Thursday, James Elmer arrived at 5:00 AM. Just saw him for the first time. Wrote letter to Vernon & card to Florence Yerdon.

Lila sent the baby 3 presents. Received letter & cards from Marg, & Aunt Mildred. Merrill & Mother was up in afternoon & evening. Mrs. Hodge [Neighbors of Arthur & Lottie Hanson] & Aunt Mildred sent me flowers.

Received cards from Aunt Myrtle & Aunt Maude. No visitors today.

Merrill, Mom & Dad was up. Saw Vernon through window. Merrill was up in evening also. Feeling swell today.

Labor Day. Wrote letter to Merrill & Vernon. They moved me from room 16 to 20.

My 6th day here. I can have visitors. Marg was up. Received cards from Grandma & Angie. Feeling pretty good.

Merrill got car fixed at Adams. Merrill was up in PM & evening. Aunt Edna was here. Brought me a cute robe for baby. Angie sent me a bonnet. Had my 2 stitches out.

Aunt Mildred, Velma [Hanson], Edith, Dorothy, Arlene & Buster was here in PM. Aunt Myrtle was here in evening. Velma brought me a box of candy & book.

Aunt Myrtle was here in PM. Aunt Maude was here in evening. Brought the baby a sweater & shirt. Jimmy was circumcised.

Ken & Gordon C was here. Aunt Edna & Aunt Cora was here in evening. Received letter from Marg.

Merrill & Vernon came after Jimmy & I. Sure glad to get home. Mom & Dad was up & got the work done. Don was here for supper.

Edith, Dot & Evelyn was down. Oren was in to see Jimmy. Feeling quite tired tonight. GotTrue Experience.

Grandma, Marg & Mom was up & canned 36 quarts of tomatoes for me. Dot was down. Received card from Pools & letter from Angie.

Merrill helped thresh at Ken’s today. Received letter from Lila. Dot was down in forenoon & evening. Arlene was here.

Sent for clothes for Vernon to Chicago Mail Order. Oren was here. Jimmy is 2 weeks old.

Marg & Mom was up & canned 12 quarts of corn for me. Dot & Arlene was down. GotTrue Story. Vernon went to Lorraine with girls to see circus.

They started cutting corn today.

Merrill moved the beds back upstairs, cleaned the rugs, etc. Went over to Grandma H in PM. & got potatoes. Mom, Don, Marg & Roy were here for supper.

Dot was down. Buster was in to see Jimmy. Also Lonny.

Vernon’s birthday (7 years) Dot was down. Vernon got birthday cards from Richard & Kathy & Mom. Threshed here today.

Finished threshing. Dot was down. Wrote letter to Mom. Merrill helped thresh at Rudd’s [neighbors] in PM.

Vernon got Jimmy 2 war stamps today toward a bond. Merrill & Vernon went to Lacona in evening to get groceries. Dot & Evelyn was down.

Dot, Evelyn, Arlene was down. Went to Adams in evening. Mom went with us. Bill Backus’ barn burned.

Dot & Arlene was here. Received letters from Beulah & Gloria. Got Xmas card from Arlene. Not feeling so good today.

Real warm. Sent order to Sears. Got Jimmy $1.25 War Stamps. Evelyn was down.

Edith, Dot & Evelyn was here. Another nice day. Vernon was ill & couldn’t go to school.

Merrill sent for operators license renewal. Jimmy is 4 weeks old. Had his first orange juice today. Dot & Evelyn was down. Received card from Aunt Myrtle.
