We went to church. Drove to Dexter & Plessis to look at loading jack & irons.

Got letter from Jim. Wrote Jim & Mother Tryon. Raining. We went to Copenhagen for irons & jack, $23.00.

Ruth Eggleston & I left for Canada at 8:00 AM. Took tour of Montreal. Stayed all night at motel near Trois-Rivieres, $8.00. Went by way of Alexandria Bay Bridge.

Ruth & I took tour of Quebec City, $3.50. Rainy. We got home at 11:05 PM. 641 miles. Came home by Trout River. Got letter from Melba

Home Demonstration at Nancy’s. 10 present. Merrill started chopping corn. Drawed secret pal names in Home Demonstration. I got Nancy.

I went to Fry’s for spark plugs. Called Mom. Got black pocketbook, $2.99. Merrill filled silo. Saw Dorothy Hogaboom in P&C.

Church smorgasbord & auction. I worked in kitchen. Made over $400.00. Vern, June & Steven came to supper. I bought kids clock, $3.50, at auction, Irene Atkinson’s.

W.S.C.S. officers’ training at Pulaski. I had headache all day so didn’t go. Foggy & muggy. Hall kids gave us beets & potatoes.

Wrote Jim. Also Vern & June. Hot & muggy. Lawton’s started drawing away old barn lumber.

Vern’s 29th birthday. Very hot. 90°. Teresa Hall, age 37, died today of cancer. Ruth Eggleston & Laura Maloy here in evening.

Home demonstration lesson. Ariel Huddleston went with me. Got flowers for Teresa & took them over. Hot, 90°. I went to lodge. PNG night. Election of officers. Esther T, Noble Grand, Kitty Austin, Vice Grand. Merrill went to his first trustee’s meeting at church.

Went over to Hall’s in evening. Lots of folks there. Got wedding invitation to Judy Wrape & Frank Payne’s wedding Saturday.

Teresa Hall’s funeral. Merrill & I went. Went to city in PM. Rainy. Got gift for Judy & Frank Payne & took it to them. Vicky Hulburt here for Life Magazine.

Vern & June, & Steven got here about 9:00 AM. All left about 3:00. Had a grand day together. Turned cold in evening with rain. We went out to Mom’s in evening.

Got letter from Jim. He has enlisted for an 18 month tour in England after January 1st. Got letter from Dot. She is in hospital. Had first killing frost last night. Hank Schell was here filling silo. Wrote Jim. Sent taxes, $147.08.

Jim was in hospital for 4 days with migraine headaches. Wrote Dot. Another hard frost last night. Hank Schell here for dinner. Washed & ironed. Had first 4-H meeting here to make out reports.

Rest of Route 81 to 1000 Islands opened today, 21 miles. Rainy. I took 4-H reports to city. Got Steven’s picture at Grants. Hank Schell here in evening.

Warm. I mowed all the lawns. Took 2 1/2 hours. Merrill sent in gas tax. Merrill filled silo. Merrill ordered 8 ton coal. Had a flat tire on car. We went to family night at church.

Dr. Lee at 2:00 PM. Had 5 teeth filled, $22.00. Merrill had starter fixed on car, $18.00 .. Eleanor, kids, David, & Brenda got here at 7:00 PM.

Eleanor, 4 kids, & I went to Canada & Seaway. Beautiful day. I took girls to Pat’s Barn Dance in evening. Merrill filled silo, 4 loads. Got letter from June.

Brenda’s birthday, 13 years old. Eleanor & kids left at 3:30. Got letter from Dot Talcott. Joe is in State Hospital.

I took Brenda & David home. Stayed all night at Mom’s. Had supper with Brenda for birthday supper.

Snowing in morning. I took Mom to Social Security office to sign for Social Security, Aunt Keitha had toe off. We stopped at hospital. Got letter from Dot. W.S.C.S. at Elsie Bacon’s. I went, Wrote Jim.

Got stuff ready for lesson tomorrow. Merrill filled silo. Nice day. World Series started, Dodgers & Minnesota Twins.

Home Demonstration here. 6 present & 3 children. Ruth had young baby. I gave milk lesson. Rainy in evening.

Raining. We went to city. Got new snow tires at Sears, $41.93. I went to 4-H Achievement night at General Brown School with Evelyn.

4-H Meeting here. All here but Donna H & Kris Klock. Norma came from city. Rainy. Washed my hair in evening. Terry Hall joined 4-H.

Merrill & I went down to Vern & June’s for dinner & supper. All of us went to Wolcott in PM. Gave Stevie tractor. Jim Matteson did milking.

Rainy. Got letter from Dot Medina. She has apartment at 1615 W. Rice Street, Melrose Park, Ill. Got Signet Club stuff from Marilyn Hall.

Shampooed my hair. Washed. Baked cake, pies, & cookies. Waxed kitchen floor. Had Donald J. Altmire from Felts Mills pump out septic tank, $45.00.

Wrote Jim & Dot. Betty G, Nancy R, & I went to Nutrition lesson at city. Finished ironing.

Mrs. George Norton’s funeral. I went to church workshop at Asbury Church. Pat, Lula, Addie, & Marg went with me. Mrs. Gardner & Mrs. Rose rode home. Beautiful day.

Rainy & windy. Sent in films. We went over to Howard & Evelyn’s in evening. Played Canasta.

Men’s chicken supper at church. Millicient Hale & I went to city. Ordered turkeys. Cleaned church. Merrill went to Anslead’s auction. Louella Hall married today. Mary & Sharon here in evening.

Beautiful day. We went to church. Millicient went with us. She went with us to Harrisville, Edwards, & Gouverneur for ride in PM.

Past Grands at Ginny Delles. I didn’t go as I was sick with chills & fever. Washed clothes. Beautiful day. Wrote Jim. Had letter from Dot. Joe had shell fragments removed from his head.

Another beautiful day. Not too peppy today. Wrote letters to Dot & Mom in evening,.

Nutrition meeting at city, Sent check for $12.00 to Times. Wrote Vern’s. Merrill chopped some corn. Quite wet yet.

Home Demonstration on freezing at Laura’s. 11 present, 2 kids. Got slides back. Merrill put in 4 loads of corn. Beautiful day but colder in evening.

Cloudy. Some rain. I went to city for groceries. Took film back to Home Demonstration office. Merrill finished chopping last of corn.

Rainy. I went up to Pat Holkins to plan Election Day dinner. Cheryl Ward & Larry Cross married in candle light service.

Steven’s first birthday party. We went. Gehm’s, & Myer’s there. They had turkey dinner. Grand time. I went to World Day of Prayer & Self Denial program in our church. About 55 there from Antwerp, Evans Mills, & Sprageville.

Steven’s first birthday. Merrill bought new Holland Manure spreader at Dick Ennis’s, $675.00.

Bread lesson at city. Nice lesson. All kinds of home made breads. Got 150 pounds of turkey for election supper at P&C @ 39¢. Cleaned church.

Washed & ironed. Got thank you letter from Steven. Lodge Installation. About 65 there. Esther T Noble Grand, K Austin Vice Grand, I’m Banner Bearer.

Wrote Jim. Dick Ennis brought New Holland spreader. I went to city for groceries for supper. Snow flurries off & on all PM.
