Church smorgasbord & auction. I worked in kitchen. Made over $400.00. Vern, June & Steven came to supper. I bought kids clock, $3.50, at auction, Irene Atkinson’s.

W.S.C.S. officers’ training at Pulaski. I had headache all day so didn’t go. Foggy & muggy. Hall kids gave us beets & potatoes.

Home demonstration lesson. Ariel Huddleston went with me. Got flowers for Teresa & took them over. Hot, 90°. I went to lodge. PNG night. Election of officers. Esther T, Noble Grand, Kitty Austin, Vice Grand. Merrill went to his first trustee’s meeting at church.

Got letter from Jim. He has enlisted for an 18 month tour in England after January 1st. Got letter from Dot. She is in hospital. Had first killing frost last night. Hank Schell was here filling silo. Wrote Jim. Sent taxes, $147.08.

Rest of Route 81 to 1000 Islands opened today, 21 miles. Rainy. I took 4-H reports to city. Got Steven’s picture at Grants. Hank Schell here in evening.

Warm. I mowed all the lawns. Took 2 1/2 hours. Merrill sent in gas tax. Merrill filled silo. Merrill ordered 8 ton coal. Had a flat tire on car. We went to family night at church.
