Lila & Jim Ashley have baby boy, Larry James. Eclipse of sun. Freddie & Merrill & I went to Mexico & picked 60 pounds of cherries @ 10¢ a pound. Rained so we couldn’t hay. Got card from Lettie. Uncle Berle still in hospital.

Worked at cherries. Roy, Marg, & Beulah, were here for supper. Paul Hanson has pin in leg now. Has to stay in hospital for 3 more weeks.

Got letter from Mother Tryon. Made 2 cherry pies & cake. Freddie & I went to Crystal swimming in PM. Rained & stormy at supper time.

Wrote Jim. Merrill finished garage wall. Road men started putting in road fill by house. Washed.

Hot. Got camp pictures back. 2700 bales of hay in barn. 14 acres yet to put in. Merrill baled for Hale’s. I went to city for groceries. Got letter from Melba. Don’s birthday.

Still hot. Wrote Jim. Drawed 2 1/2 loads of hay in today. Went for ride in evening to Theresa, Antwerp, & Philadelphia. Stopped at Philadelphia Diner. Fred & I went to Crystal after supper.

Hot. Went on picnic to Gouverneur, Ogdensburg, etc. Stopped at Crystal on way home.

Wrote Melba. Hot. Light showers. Men got hair cut at Theresa. Went to Lamphere’s also to pay for garage stuff. Howard & Evelyn were here in AM. Did ironing & washed.

Cooler. Baked cookies & pies. Drew hay. Rained all around us but we didn’t get any. Terrible dry.

Aunt Cora & Uncle Charlie were in accident at Calcium. Aunt Cora hurt hip. I went to city for groceries in AM. Got Jersey dress, $5.00.

Finished haying in forenoon, 3800 bales. Worked at garage in PM. Wrote Jim.

Rainy & Windy. Postponed Home Bureau picnic until next Sunday. We went to city park in PM.

Cloudy in AM. Men finished tearing down garage. Wrote Uncle Berle & Cindy.

Cindy’s birthday, 2 years old. Washed clothes. Gave myself a Lilt Milk permanent. Merrill started putting up garage frame work.

Thunder storms in AM. Wrote Jim. Beulah Macklin’s 40th birthday.

Got letter from Jim & Melba. Freddie’s watch came back. Merrill started rafters on garage. Rose LeClair & Margaret Phillips were here few minutes in evening. Evelyn & I went to fair in evening to see western stars.

Evelyn cut hand on hay baler. I took her to doctors at Bay Hospital. Rained in evening so we didn’t go to fair. Merrill combined Howard’s grass seed.

Wrote June & Vern. We went to Gouverneur Fair in evening. Kochman’s Hill drivers were there. Freddie & I went to city. Stopped at Watertown fair.

Rained so we couldn’t have Home Bureau picnic. We went out home for dinner. Doreen & Debbie came home with us. Thunder storm coming home.

Holly’s 3rd birthday. Got letter from Jim. I wrote Jim. Very foggy in morning. Merrill finished Howard’s’ grass seed.

Rained hard all day. Lazy day. Talked with Vi. Got letter from June. They are coming Friday.

Took Doreen & Debbie home. Ate lunch at park. Freddie did school shopping. Mom had letter from Evelyn Scee from Washington State.

Washed & cleaned. Men worked on garage.

Vern & June got here about 1:30. Left home from Maryland at 4:00 AM. Drove their new American Rambler home. Freddie, Evelyn, & I went to city for groceries.

Mother Tryon, Melba, & Elmer came after Freddie. Here for supper & all night. Vernon & Merrill got hair cut. Rained.

Mother Tryon, Elmer, Melba, & Freddie left about 10:30 AM. We went out home for dinner. Dorland’s, Ken’s, & Marg there also. Also June & Vernon.

Vern & June went to Oswego for day. Washed clothes & windows. We all went over to Howard & Evelyn’s in evening.

Men worked on garage about all day. Rose LeClair, & Margaret Phillips were here for supper.

Wrote Jim. Eleanor, Kids, & I went to city for groceries. Is in paper that Eleanor’s aunt died yesterday. Eleanor & kids left about 10:00 PM.

Raining. Sent kids anniversary card. Washed car. Washed my hair. Cleaned. Baked pies, & cookies.

Lazy day. Went for ride in PM. Stopped at Theresa Diner for first. Wrote Jim in evening.

Wrote Jim. I took car to Gouverneur for new muffler, $24.71. Talked with Aunt Maude & Vi.

Vern & June’s 3rd anniversary. Sent in picture films. Painted windows & some on garage.

Jim has been in Air Force 1 year. Loran killed 19 years ago. Wrote Jim. Sent him birthday card. Wrote Mother Tryon. Sent notice about Jim in paper. Joan called in evening. Road men put in fill by here. Mom called in evening to see how Jim is.

Had twin calves. Rebekahs practice at Antwerp for assembly president’s visit September 5. The town put fill on our road. Merrill put in cement by garage door. Elmer McKeever died of heart attack.

Got letter from Jim. Can get up to go to bath. Merrill & I went to city. Bought blade for tractor at Farrell’s. Got paint for cupboard & dining room. Vernon’s Master’s degree confirmed today.

Nice day. I painted window & garage door. I went to Pete McKeever’s wake in evening with Rebekahs. Washed my hair.

Jimmy’s 20th birthday. Labor Day. I painted kitchen cupboards turquoise color. Wrote Jim. Painted garage doors.

Rained in PM. W.S.C.S. at Esther Taylor’s but I didn’t go. Painted kitchen cupboards second coat. Merrill started combining al Slates. Mom called in evening. She, Ken’s, & David had been to Canada. Went Saturday, came home Monday.

Vernon’s picture in paper for Master’s Degree. Aunt Maude called. Merrill combined at Slates. I painted dining room walls, Kemtone apple blossom. Used 2 quarts of paint. Have to get another quart. Ruth Eggleston here in evening.

Merrill combined at Slate’s. Rebekah’s County President’s meeting al Antwerp, 157 present. Philadelphia lodge served luncheon. Mary went to lodge with me.

Merrill combined al Slates. Arlene Reynolds & I visited Sybil Felt. Got groceries, pills, & paint. Got 2 folding chairs with Gold stamps. Got letter from Jim. He is still in hospital.

Wrote Jim. Mowed lawns. Got letter from Jim. His back isn’t any better. Doctor thinks it is a ruptured disk. Merrill didn’t finish at Slate’s. I finished painting dining room walls.
