Kids left about 10:00 AM. Gave Vern $10.00 for slacks. Toby here for supper. Merrill chopped first corn this year. Jim went to Drive-in in evening. Got turkey ready for tomorrow.

Had a family picnic at Mom’s. Ken’s, Don’s, Vern’s, Mom & us. Very nice day. I took turkey. Didn’t go to church.

Rainy. Past Grands at Ginny Delles. I went with Lois W. Jim had date with Fran Hurteau. Lawn mower broke. Merrill took loading jack part to city.

Merrill & Jim took lawn mower to Whites & Jim had new fuel pump put on car at Goutremonts gas station, $11.44. Started ripe pickles. Washed. Merrill chopped corn. Wrote Vern’s.

Vern’s 30th birthday. Cloudy & rainy. Sent for Farm Journal Xmas books. Merrill cleaned cellar. Made pickles & canned tomatoes. Jim made Teddy an eating rack. Got letter from Melba.

Rained hard all day. Jim & I went to city. Went to Dr. Robert’s about my finger.

Decided not to have finger operated on. Called Dr. Roberts. Merrill & Jim took car to Gouverneur to have brakes fixed, $44.00. Washed sheets. Rained. Got pictures back. Jim got western hat.

Merrill cleaned out back room to get ready to put in wall & floor. We went down to Payne’s Lake in AM. Jim went to Drive-in in evening.

We went to church. Drove to Camp Dempster & Ken’s but found no one home. The Hutchinson’s had open house at their cottage in PM & evening.

Merrill chopped corn. Frost last night. Toby here for lunch. Boys washed cars. Elgin & Olive called in evening. We are going over on Sunday.

Renewed Good Housekeeping. Called Vern’s & Mom. Joyce Griffin & I went to city to price cleaners for church. Toby here. Stayed all night. Merrill chopped corn.

Rebekah’s election of officers. I didn’t go to lodge. Lee Hall here in evening about oil furnace, $370.00. Jim got plane ticket to New York City, $25.73. He & Toby went to city. Toby here all night. Called kids & Mom.

Jim & Toby Morrow took trip to Whiteface Mountain. Left at 6:30 AM – 7:30 PM. Jim brought us fireplace lamp. Toby didn’t stay

Windy & rainy. Dorothy LeClaire’s cattle auction, 95 head. Jim helped Kenny & Brenda move. I have horrid cold. Thunder storm in night. Got letter from Dot Talcott. June called.

Ken’s brought Mom out Here for supper. Vern’s got here about 6:00 PM. Merrill put cement in cellar for oil tank.

We all went to Olive & Jim Bowman’s for dinner. Called at Wilhemina’s & Elgin Black’s. Mom stayed over for visit.

Brenda’s 14th birthday. Vern’s left about 8:45 AM. Called Juanita. Sent Oren & Bea Gehm birthday cards. Merrill had flat tire on wagon. Washed. Made pickled pears. Jim spent day at Kenny’s.

Oren’s birthday. 80 years old. He is home from hospital. W.S.C.S. at Margaret Waters. Wrote Mother Tryon & Marg. I showed electrolux cleaner, $174.50. Franny Hurteau here. They went to The Ten Commandments movie.

Bea Gehm’s birthday. Marg’s birthday. World Series starts, Dodgers & Baltimore Orioles. Jim went to Oswego. Pearl Payne was here. Made pickled pears, donuts, & pies.

Home Demonstration at Martha Brown’s. I went with Mary. Jim got home from Vern’s & Ken’s. Merrill & I went to The Ten Commandments at Philadelphia. Got slides.

Lee Hall started oil furnace. Mom called from Canada. She went to a Billy Graham crusade. Made pears. Got Jim’s pictures of mountain trip. Evelyn was here in evening. Jim got new coat at Sears, $18.00. Chopped corn. Muddy.

Beautiful day. Men chopped corn. Toby here. Evelyn, Dawn, & I went to city. Dawn had picture taken at Grants. Marty Rudes & Joanne Sheldon married.

Roy & Marg here for dinner. Mom, Eleanor, & Juanita here for supper on way from Canada. Toby here also. I had headache in morning.

Jim left Dexter Airport at 1:05 PM. Changes in Syracuse & New York. Kenny, Brenda, & Kirk here for dinner. Went to airport with us. Lee Hall here. We went to Theresa funeral home for Donnie Brotherton. Registered at Antwerp.

Merrill started plowing. Nice day. Washed Jim’s clothes. Wrote Jim in evening.

Had Teddy put to sleep. Buried him back of garden. McAvoy [?] was here for cow. She had twins. I went to city for groceries. Got chair, lazy Susan, & cloth for formal. Lee was here.

We went to Vern & June’s for dinner. Took Stevie’s birthday gifts to him. Cloudy & rainy.

Past Grands at Martha Brown’s. 19 present. I drove. Lee worked all day on furnace.

Lee Hall finished installing oil furnace unit, $370. I went to Philadelphia. Sent Jim’s clothes air mail, $10.00. Wrote kids.

Home Demonstration at Lucky Halls. Ruth gave health lesson II. Got letter from Jim. He got back OK. Nice day but cold.

Week of Prayer & Self Denial program at Mills. I took Marg, Ruth, & Mildred. I went to P&C for groceries. Ordered turkeys. Washed.

Nice day. Had 4-H meeting here. Election of officers. We went to card party at Carleton Brown’s for Oxbow Grange. Kenneth Hall married Lois today at Syracuse.

We went to church. We drove over to Clara Wallace in PM. Beautiful fall day. Belinda Sue Cross baptized today.

We finished painting trim on house. Sent Steven birthday card. finished formal. Green brocade.

Steven’s 2nd birthday. Merrill worked at Lafave’s. Vi, Esther, Leah, & I attended installation at Black River. Rained terrible. We went to Howard’s after. Donna Hall here in PM. Got letter from Uncle Berle.

Installation of officers at Rebekahs. about 70 present. K Dickson is Noble Grand. Margaret Waters is Vice Grand. I’m Banner Bearer 3. Cleaned & baked pies.

We went to Gouverneur. Had points & plugs put in car. Also inspected for first time. We went to city in PM. Joyce Purcell & Marilyn Rosbrook arrested for embezzlement today.

Beautiful day, 60°. Got letter from Melba. Mother Tryon goes to hospital November 13th. I went up to Dawn Kiechle’s to plan election day supper.

Much cooler. Merrill finished plowing. Also plowed garden. Daylight saving time ends tonight. All night dance at Pat’s.

We went to church. Went out to Lorraine in PM. Debbie Hall went with us. Vern’s were there. Got potatoes & squash & cranberries at Greco’s.

Wrote Jim. Washed. Merrill worked at C. Watts making stanchions. Got Farm Journal Christmas books.

W.S.C.S. at Eva Delles. 24 present. Got letter from Jim. Rainy. We moved freezer into kitchen. Defrosted it.

Sewing lesson 10:00-12:00. I went to city at 8:30 AM. Got turkeys & groceries. Bought clothes dryer at Sears, $139.98. Also coat, $30.00. Merrill took out floor in back room.

4-H leader’s banquet at Adams Center School. Donna Hall & I went. Got my coat at Penney’s. I went to Home Demonstration at Alice Woods, terrarium. Merrill worked at back room.
