Terribly snowy. 3-4 inches in morning when we got up. First snowfall of season. Snow plow was over. Made cupcakes, & cooked cranberries.

4-H Halloween party here. All members present. Also Pearl, Lorraine, & Roger. Snow plow was over again today. Merrill helped put cement floor in parsonage garage. Clifford Carr’s house burned today.

Elsie & Win Bacon’s 60th anniversary open house at church from 2-5. We went. Very nice. We went to church

Norma Payne’s birthday. Elsie & Win Bacon’s 60 anniversary today. I took turkeys to Philadelphia. Wrote Jim. We put cement wall in back room.

Election Day supper & bazaar. I was chairman. Made $165.00. Merrill & I went over & voted in morning.

Tired today. Merrill put storm windows on for Charlie Watts. I went to lodge in evening.

Sewing lesson 10-12. We ordered back room stuff at Lanphere’s. I made red skirt. Jim Matteson here in evening.

Cloudy today but no rain. Wrote Vern’s. Merrill got hair cut at Theresa. He also went to Philadelphia. He went to Gouverneur for barn floor lime with Howard.

Lee Hall here to check furnace. Lanphere brought lumber. Got wiring from him for dryer. Paid him in full. Got letter from Mother Tryon. Merrill got cross floor pieces in today.

Mother Tryon goes to St. Joseph’s hospital in Syracuse. We went to church. Had covered dish dinner for Rev & Mrs. Hutchinson’s 35 years in the ministry.

Washed. Wrote Uncle Berle. Merrill laid floor in utility room. Mother Tryon had left eye operated on today in Syracuse. Elmer & Melba called in evening. Washed my hair.

We went to Syracuse to visit Mother Tryon. She was pretty good. Gladys Lamon was there too.

Candy lesson at Strough’s Crossing Unit. 14 present. Was gone all day. Mom called in evening. She spent weekend in Oswego. Did ironing.

Sick in bed all day with migraine headache. Couldn’t go to Home Demonstration at Carries. Couldn’t go to meeting at church.

We went to city. Got light & wiring. Ordered new window, $37.00. Kids called in evening. I’m pretty shaky yet today. Got Birthday card from Marg & Roy.

Kids got here about noon. Brought “Penny” [dog] for first time, 7 weeks old. Men worked at back room. I washed kitchen curtains. Wrote Jim. Got cards from Vern’s & Steven.

June & I went to church. Men worked at back room. I made salads. Mopped & waxed floor. Kids left at 6:00 PM.

Past Grands here. 17 present. Edna had cake made for Lois W & I. Elsie was here. Secret Pal gave me Xmas wreath. Merrill took car to Gouverneur for carburetor cleaning, $19.00. Got letter from Jim. He isn’t staying in the service after July. Sent pictures.

Debbie’s birthday. Merrill worked at back room. Washed clothes. Made donuts. Got card from Fran. Got letter from June.

Merrill washed car at Matts. Sent Life insurance. Sears brought my new clothes dryer, $129.95. Sent for car license. We went to city in PM. Got rest of wiring. Got new window at Lanphere, $39.00. I didn’t go to lodge. Got card & letter from Ken’s.

Raining. We went out home for dinner. Larry, David, Amy, & Annie Hogaboom there also. Mom came home with us. Had a flat tire on Theresa Road.

Raining all day. We went to city. Got new snow tire at Sears. $11.00 because of adjustment for old one from last year. Mom & I went to hospital to see Stewart Martin. Called Clara W. Kids called in evening. Mom talked with Nina Weaver.

Mom & I went up to clean church but couldn’t get in as we couldn’t get a key. We went over to Art & Doris’s. Called Clara Wallace.

Mom & I went after Clara Wallace. We all went to church. Came back here for dinner, then took Mom to Aunt Keitha’s to stay. Took Clara home in evening.

Washed & ironed. Merrill put new window in laundry room. Merrill went to lodge. First in ages.

Wrote Jim. We went to Garns for floor tile, $25.00. Did some Christmas shopping. Telephone man here in evening. Phone noisy.

Merrill worked at back room. Telephone men here again. Made cookies. Washed my hair. Howard was here. Wrote Vern’s. Win Bacon, 80 died at 11:00 PM of heart attack.

Sent package of cookies to Jim. Made pumpkin pies. Snowed all day.

Storms left lots of snow around. Roads slippery. Some schools closed. Plane missing. Had 4-H at Hall’s. Drew Christmas names. Roads closed south of Adams in evening. Adams got 50 inches of snow.

Wrote Mother Tryon, Bowman’s, & sent Elsie & family card. Below zero last night. We went to city. Roads slippery. Merrill got new suit, $62.38. We went with Rebekahs to Win’s wake.

Win Bacon, age 80, funeral. We went. Cold, 7 below zero last night. We went to church. Margaret Hudson’s barn burned on farm. They found lost plane at Copenhagen. Both men killed.

Wrote Jim. Warmer. Wrapped gifts. Got package ready to send Uncle Berle: tablecloth, note pad, pin. Snowy.

Sent Jim’s Christmas package. Sent Uncle Berle’s package. W.S.C.S. Christmas party at Mrs. H. Covered dish supper at 6:30. I didn’t go to supper. Mary & I went to meeting. 24 present. Merrill made

Started decorating house. Evelyn was over in AM. Got first Christmas card from Boy’s Town.

We went to city shopping. I felt punk when we got home. Hurts to breathe. Got Christmas card from Les & Beulah. Merrill got new suit.

Have felt terrible all day. Been on couch about all day. Got card from Joe & Joan Hach. Merrill got molding on back room Also vent for dryer.

Rainy. Merrill got new clothes dryer hooked up. Used it in the evening. Works swell. Put up rest of decorations except lights.

Our 31st anniversary. We went to church. Went to funeral home for Emory Rudes, 86, in PM. Got tree at Matts, $3.50. Boy scouts. Put up tree & put colored lights on porch.

Made fruit cake & dipped chocolates. Merrill started tile in back room. Man was here from Agway. Merrill ordered 1 1/2 ton. [No item that was ordered is stated.] Merrill went to lodge. I decorated tree in evening. Wrote Vern’s & Uncle Berle.

Merrill finished laying tile in washroom. I addressed rest of cards & wrote letters. Washed my hair.

Sent 75 Christmas cards. Made Christmas cookies & fudge. Merrill put mop board on back room. I didn’t go to lodge.

Home Demonstration Christmas meeting at Ruth’s. I didn’t go for dinner but went in PM. Good turnout. 13 adults, 6 kids. Nice time. Collected for Rev. & Mrs. Hutchinson’s gift. Sent food packages to Jim. Walt Disney died today.

I went to Dr. Roberts. I have flu bug. Ivan Hale Jr. & Charlotte Jackson married today.

4-H Christmas party. All members present except Norma. Nice party. Merrill started water pipes for back room. Put washer out there. Got letter from Jim.

Christmas program at church, 7:30. Reception for Mr. & Mrs. Ivan Hale. We didn’t go to church. I was sick in bed all day. Pearl Payne was here in evening.

Still feel terrible today. Past Grands at Vi’s but I didn’t go. Lois Hanlon had my name as secret pal. I had Martha for secret pal. Merrill worked on water pipes. Got card from Scees from California. Merrill went to lodge.

Rev. Hutchinson here in PM. Got package of dates from Uncle Berle. Called Vern’s in evening. Snowed about 1 inch.

Merrill hooked up washer pipes. Got check from Jim to get Steve & Kims gifts. Been in bed about all day.

Sent Donna birthday card. Washed. Made cookies. Got packages from Jim. Binoculars.

Mom called. We went to city to finish shopping. Tired me out. Got doll for Kim & table set for Steve for Jim.
