Merrill & Carleton Alton went to Belleville for chopper & blower. I went to first Rebekah’s meeting this fall. Wrote kids.

We went to auction at Oxbow. Hot. Bill Lauckanaur, 53, ex-mayor of city killed in car accident at Pamelia at 11:30 PM.

Got letter from Jim. Rainy. We went to city for groceries. Took blower belt to be laced at Dick Ennis’. Got roll of paper for lodge.

Wrote Jim. Lynn helped Merrill put up silo pipe. Washed my hair. Sent $12.00 for Times paper for 1 year. It runs out in October.

We went to church. I took Lula, Vi, Carrie, Margaret M, & Mary W, to officers workshop for W.S.C.S. at Pulaski.

Washed clothes. Quite cool today.

Merrill started chopping corn. Did ironing. Quite cool. Frost last night.

I was sick with headache all day. First one in a long time. Got letter from June & Vern. Merrill went to Dick Ennis for blower belt, $51.00.

First Home Demonstration meeting this fall at Martha Brown’s. Shower for Alice. 14 women, 7 kids present. Rainy. Wrote Jim.

Tweety bird died today. He was about 9-10 years old. I mowed lawns. Merrill filled silo. Wrote Vern & June. Sent him $5.00 for birthday.

W.S.C.S. food sale. I made cookies. I cleaned church. Went to city for groceries. Someone dropped two kittens off here.

Stewardship meeting at Bethany Church. I took Lula, Vi, Pat, & Joyce G. Art Miles & Rev. Reynolds went also. Found another kitten. Makes 3 now. Had Vet for heifer back in pasture. Lynn & Roger were here.

Past Grands at Minnie Dyers. Vern’s 28th birthday. Wrote Mom. I didn’t go to Past Grands as we had soft tire on car. Canned tomatoes. Started syrup on pickles.

Got tire fixed at Matt’s. Had piece of wire in it. Wrote Uncle Berle. Very warm, 80°. Cleaned upstairs.

Fran & Mickey’s 19th anniversary. Fall W.S.C.S. District Meeting at Asbury Church. Lula, Elsie, Phil, Marg M, Mary W, & I went. Gave $200 mission pledge. Raining in evening. I went to Rebekah’s election of officers. Lois Hanlon Noble Grand & Esther Taylor Vice Grand.

Rebekah’s President visit at Sackets Harbor. I didn’t go. Windy. Made pickles. Too windy again today for Merrill to fill silo.

Went to city for groceries. Got new portable 19 inch TV at Sears, $147. Got letter from Jim. Made pickles. Signed for Children’s Digest for Don’s.

Merrill finished filling silo, 28 loads. Made Apple pies.

We went out to Mom’s in PM. She has cold. Linda Haggerty Piper has baby girl born September 17 or 18. Rained terrible in PM. Warren Report was released on TV.

Wrote Jim. Merrill started plowing.

Wrote Vern & June. Washed my hair. Sent for Warren Report to Times.

Worked on Brenda’s dress. Wrote Dorothy Medina.

Got letter & pictures from Uncle Berle. We went up to Philadelphia to vote on bond issue. [results of vote] for 517-510. Went to Gouverneur in PM. Beautiful day.

Painted living room windows on inside. Sold heifer, Rained hard in evening.

Cleaned & washed & baked Beautiful day but windy. Sent Marg card & letter.

We went to church for World Wide Communion Sunday. Bill & Vi, Merrill & I, drove up through Harrisville. Had dinner there. Called kids in evening. Are fine.

Marg’s birthday. Canned tomatoes. Aunt Mildred called. Philip LeClair hurt in motorcycle accident.

W.S.C.S. here. 20 members present. Got letter from Jim. He was made A/2C on October 1st. Got letter from June & Vern. Bob McCleod, age 41 , was killed in car accident

Wrote Jim. Got letter from Dot Medina. I went to church. Stewardship meeting in evening at church. World Series started between Yankees & Cardinals

Went to Home Demonstration at Laura Malay’s. Betty taught us sugar molds. 9 women , 6 kids present. Merrill went to Bob McCleod’s wake.

Sent $6.45 for Life magazine for 65 weeks. Raining. Pat H & I cleaned church for Bob McCleod’s funeral. Merrill & I went to city for groceries.

Kept cows in for first night. First snow flurries this fall. Wrote June & Vern & Jim. Merrill got Case Manure spreader at Theresa, $112.50. Worked at Brenda’s dresses.

Didn’t go to church. Didn’t get around in time. Finished Brenda’s dresses. Lazy day.

No school. Washed & ironed. Sent 3 cows to replacement sale at Gouverneur in evening.

Canned tomatoes. Raining in PM. Merrill is cleaning out brush ponds in back meadow. Got letter from Jim.

Rebekah’s installation. I’m conductor for third year. Lois Hanlon is Noble Grand. Esther Taylor is Vice Grand. About 50 present. Very small crowd for our lodge.

Cardinals won World Series from Yankees (7 games) I went up to Pat Holkins to make out slips for election supper. Wrote Jim. Mom called.

Nettie Smith was in accident at Theresa. I went to city for groceries. Ordered turkeys for church supper. Wrote June & Vern & sent farm payment. Pat Allen, 44, died today in Buffalo.

We went out to Mom’s today. Took Brenda dress & jumper I made her. Merrill helped Don draw logs. Beautiful day.

Home Demonstration at Ruth’s. 12 were there, 5 kids. Martha gave Time Before the Teens. Merrill dug out brush across road in field.

Merrill & I went to city for groceries. Got turkeys, 180 1/2 pounds@ 37¢ for election day supper & groceries. Got letter from Jim & also June & Vern.

Wrote Jim. Cleaned kitchen. We went to Eva & Victor Delles’ 50th wedding anniversary open house. Spent evening with Bill & Vi.

Week of Prayer & Self Denial meeting at Evans Mills in evening. 16 went. Our first grandchild arrived at 11 :45 AM. Steven James, 6 pounds, 13 ounces. We went to church. Wrote kids & Jim.

Wrote Jim & sent money for flowers to Vern & June. Washed clothes. Merrill put up new electric line to barn & garage. Warm, & nice day. Wrote Mother Tryon.
