Hot. Wrote Uncle Berte. Jim Seeley’s funeral. Merrill & I went to jt. We went out to Mercy Hospital to see Aunt Lila in PM. Aunt Cora called.

Light showers last night. Need rain bad. Got letter from Jim. He enjoyed Grand Prix very much. Merrill raked last of hay.

Wrote June & Vern. Finished haying. Had 211O bales. Baler broke down in AM so Merrill & Jim went to Ennis for part.

I went to city for groceries. Muggy. Garmon, Pauline, & kids, were here in evening. Wrote Jim.

Raining at last. Stopped in AM. We went up to Uncle Len’s in PM. Betty not feeling good. Mother Tryon called.

Ironed about all day. Merrill mowed lawns. First time mowed in a month.

Finished ironing. Wrote Jim. Got letter from Melba.

We went out to Lorraine. Cindy, Debbie, & Doreen, came home with us. Stopped at Mercy Hospital to see Aunt Lila.

We all went to Rebekah’s Ice Cream Social. WOTI Dave Cady had music, $30.00. Man from Sears here to fix washer, $24.00.

Washed & ironed. Cleaned. Mary H was here in evening. Doreen went over to play with Debbie Hall.

Merrill & Bob LaFave went to Don’s for load of hay, 172 bales. Gave Bob $20.00 to go out. Aunt Maude called.

We went to Alexandria Bay in PM. Saw water show. Girls enjoyed it all.

Got letter from Jim, & June & Vern. Wrote Jim. Washed & ironed. Billie Pike died this morning, age 45. I went to Floods in evening to plan Marion’s reception.

Girls, Vi, & I went to city. Had picnic at park. Saw animals. Shopped.

Merrill & I took girls home in PM. Gave all the kids socks & got baby blanket with stamps for Juanita. Mom having trouble with her freezer. I went to funeral home for Billie Pike Sheppard. Rebekah’s had service.

Merrill started combining our oats. Very good this year Bobby Murphy here helping. Here for lunch. Washed sheets.

Warmer today. Merrill combined on our oats. About 400 bushel so far. Wrote Jim. Cleaned. Debbie was over.

Very windy. Rained some during night. Merrill & I went to Gouverneur. Got car washed. Merrill got hair cut. Got cloth for 2 dresses.

Esther Taylor called & asked us to go down to their camp. We couldn’t go as cows had to be put across for water. Made shift, brown dress.

Sent cards on Reunion. Finished combining oats. 140 bags from 11 acres.

Sent Holly birthday card. Wrote Jim. Merrill baled straw. Got letter from Eleanor.

Cloudy & windy. Bill, Vi, Merrill, & I went to Gouverneur fair in evening. Western stars were on. Very good.

Aunt Cora called to say Aunt Lila Tiff, 74, died this morning. Called Wolcott twice. Called Aunt Cora. Finished drawing straw. 183 bales.

I went to city in AM for groceries. Got car windshield broke by a stone from town of LeRay truck. We went to funeral home at Adams. Mother Tryon came home with us.

Marion Flood & Ronald Monica married today. Aunt Lila Tiff’s funeral. We went up to Mom’s. Brenda came home with us. Mother & Grace spent night.

Grace, & Mother Tryon left at 10:15 AM. We went to Alexandria Bay on picnic. Was up to Ray Petrie’s in evening.

Wrote Jim. Got letter & pictures from Jim. Washed & ironed. Hall kids were over.

Brenda & I went to Gouverneur for new car windshield, $104.54. Merrill, Brenda, & I went to city in PM. Got letter from Vern & June. Brenda & I went to Past Grands at Aunt Maude’s

Wrote June & Vern. Merrill started combining at Slates. Rain stopped him at 3:30. Washed rugs & bedspread.

Rained so Merrill couldn’t combine. We took Brenda home in PM. Got groceries on way home.

Raining. Baked cake & cookies. Got tables ready for tomorrow.

Reunion here. 43 present. Juanita & Don have baby gir1, Karen Sue, born at 3:33 AM. 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

Sent package of baby things & anniversary card & letter to June & Vern. I went out to see Juanita. Don & Brenda there. Juanita not too good. Merrill combined at Slates.

Wrote Jim. White washed the barn. Gardner’s brought 8 1/2 ton of hay @ $30. Vi Mowers & I went out to see Juanita & Karen Sue. Juanita feeling lots better.

Merrill combined at Slates. Quite cool today. Started 9 day pickles.

Kid’s 4th anniversary. I took Juanita & Karen Sue home from hospital, Brenda had work all done up. Merrill started combining at Howard’s.

Jim has been in service 2 years today. 2 more to go. Sent Jim birthday package, cake, cookies, shirt, & sweater. Total postage, $5.08. Merrill combined at Howard’s.

Gave myself a Milk Lilt permanent. Got letter from Vern & June. Rained in PM.

We went for ride in PM to Oxbow, Hammond, etc. Howard & Evelyn were here in evening awhile.

Got letter from Mother Tryon. Past Grands go to Flossie [?] for picnic. Twelve went. Nice time. I rode with Vi. Lois drove too. Merrill finished Howard’s oats. Called Mom from Woodville.

W.S.C.S. at Margueme Beach. 16 there. Ken’s appointment with Dr. Gardner. We went to city to insurance company but no one in.

Jim’s 21st birthday. Wrote Jim. Merrill combined at Slates. Made pickles.

We went to Belleville & to Mom’s for lunch. Merrill got chopper & blower at Herman LaVere’s, $400. Jim Matteson was here in evening.

We went to church. We took Beulah & Les out to dinner at Casablanca in Gouverneur. Mother Tryon & Leslie were here when we got home. Kenny , Brenda, & Kim here in evening.

Labor Day. Leslie & Mother Tryon left at 9:45 AM for Adams. I canned peaches & pears. Merrill washed car.
