I went to city after groceries. Rained in PM. Had some hay get wet.

Rained. Merrill & I went to Texas [NY] after cherries $10.00. Gave Juanita 15 pounds. Stopped up home on way home.

Defrosted freezer for first. Froze cherries. Men finished haying.

Got up with headache. Cloudy. Rained about all day. First time jt has rained all day.

Still have headache. Jim took car to Gouverneur to have universal packed. Merrill & I got transmission for truck at Gouverneur but wouldn’t fit.

Made several calls about Michigan. Jim’s car broke down at Theresa. Joan here all day. Jim went to Air Force [recruiter]. He has to enlist in August. Jim, Joan, & I went to city.

Don’s birthday. Thunder storm all night. Uncle Len, Betty, Mom, Marg, Aunt Keitha, & Carrie Janack, here all night. Alice brought them.

We left for Michigan at 6:00 AM. Toby Morrow is staying with Jim. We stayed at Windsor at night, $22.00 for all of us.

We got to Battle Creek about 1:00 PM. Beautiful place. I drove Uncle Len’s car part of way.

Had a family picnic at Edie & Floyd’s. 41 present. Had nice day.

Air plane tickets came for kids. We left Battle Creek at 9:00 AM. Stayed all night at Niagara Falls, Canadian side. Went to see Falls at night.

Mom, Marg, Merrill, & I got home in PM. Boys got along OK. Saw Niagara Falls for first time. Drove 1400 miles in all. Went to funeral home, Everett Beach.

Jim mowed lawns. First time in a month. Had appointment with dentist at 9:30. Had 4 teeth filled. Had oil change & oil seal put on. Lodge ice cream social. I worked.

Washed clothes. Merrill finished Les Hall’s roof. Jim took his 1954 Pontiac back in dump. Piston gone on It. Joan called.

Got Jim’s suitcase packed. Jim & I went to city. Called Mom. Melvin Coon’s wife died Monday. Uncle Len’s got home Tuesday night. Toby stayed all night.

Toby was sick all night so boys couldn’t go on trip. Uncle Len’s, Betty, Aunt Keitha, Carie & Velma here. Merrill helped Fred LeClair on combine.

Bea & Don Gehm were here for dinner on way home from Seaway weekend. Jim & I went to church. Toby feeling better.

Jim & Toby Morrow left on trip to Catskill & Adirondack mountain at 6:00 AM. Foggy. Sent Cindy card.

Got card from Jim from Cooperstown. Are having a ball. I went to W.S.C.S. at Pikes Point. Vivian, Roy, Marg, & Beulah were here while I was gone.

Jim & Toby got home from Mountain trip. Saw lots of country. They went to Whiteface & rode ski lift. Jim brought us ash tray.

Merrill & I went to Gouverneur for groceries & Merrill got boots, $5.99 at Kaplan’s. Kids went to Gouverneur Fair. Rainy & cold. Had furnace fire.

Rainy. Jim took car to Gouverneur for points & plugs. $16.76. Had twin calves last night. Washed Jim’s clothes. Sent Holly card & letter.

Cloudy & cold. I got Jim’s stuff ready to go to Vern’s.

Holly’s 2nd birthday. Mrs. Hatch & I took Joan & Jim to Rochester. They flew to Baltimore, $53.00. Had dinner at Gehm’s. Mom & kids came home with me.

I have headache in evening. Took kids to Crystal Lake swimming. Fred LeClair here for dinner. Men drawed manure. Sent cow to sale at Lowville.

Still raining. Mom, kids, & I went to city. Bowman’s, Black’s, & Leah Stanley here in evening.

Fred LeClair helped finish drawing manure. Elgin & Olive Bowman, Leah Stanley, Wilhelmina, & Elgin Black here for dinner. Left about 2:30. Took kids to Crystal Lake swimming. Had picnic supper on lawn.

June & Vern brought Jim & Joan. Got here about 6:30. I took Mom & kids home. Got 2 sheets & 1 pair pillow cases. Jim got me nice bag. Merrill blue shirt & cigars.

June & Vern left for Canada about 8:00 AM. Jim washed car. Merrill got combine ready to go to Art’s. Jim & Joan went to drive in. I washed & ironed. Priscilla called.

Merrill started combining at Art Haggerty’s. Cool. Windy.

Rev Kenneth Reynolds new pastor at Philadelphia. First sermon. Merrill, Jim, & I went. Jim went to Joan’s in PM.

Jim went to city to enlist in Air Force. Has to take test tomorrow. Merrill combined at Art’s. Joan here for supper.

Jim took Air Force test. Quite hard. Wrote Mom.

Grange ice cream social. Joan here all day. Jim mowed lawns. I worked at ice cream social. Merrill finished at Art’s for now. Got letter from Eleanor.

Merrill combined at Landon’s. Jim, Toby, & Kenny went to drive in. Canned 8 quarts tomatoes.

I have headache. Cleaned house. Jim, Joan, & I went to city. Jim passed Air Force test.

Joan here all day. Toby here for lunch. Washed. Made Jim cake. Kids went to races.

Joan here all night. Jim, Joan, Merrill, & I went to city park on picnic. Mom, Carrie J, Don’s, Ken’s, Orv & Angie, Mary & Beulah. Jim called Vernon in evening.

Vern & June’s first anniversary. Jim had farewell party. Fifteen kids present. Grand time had by all. Joan stayed all night.

Jim left for Air Force. Pat Buske came home for day with him. Joan & I took them at 7:15 bus to city for Syracuse.

Merrill & I went out home. I picked blackberries. Jim called at 7:15 PM from Hancock airport, Syracuse. Was leaving for Texas at 7:30 PM.

Got first letter from Jim. Very hot. Mosquitoes are terrible all day long. Merrill started grain elevator. I went over to Evelyn’s. made blackberry jelly.

Very hot. I helped Merrill combine oats.

Still very hot. Merrill & I went out home. Took Davie bicycle baskets. Merrill mowed lawns. Vern called. June is in hospital. Internal hives. Bill & Vi came in evening.

Fred LeClair’s father died. Lynn took collection for flowers. Jim’s birthday. His draft card came yesterday. He is 1-A. Joan came up in evening with her new clothes. Called Vern & June. June got home from hospital.

Very hot. 92°. Helped Merrill combine all day.

Got letter from Jim with first Air Force address. Sent him Air Mail letter. Helped Merrill combine. Mr. Gehm called.

Called Vern. June is a lot better. Rained all day. Cold in evening. Had furnace fire. Wrote Mom.

Very cold last night. In the 30 degrees. Sent for $5000 insurance on farm loan. Renewed Times for one year, $10.00. Wrote June & Vern. Joan called in evening.

Joan leaves for Oswego College as freshman at 7:30 AM. Got 2nd letter from Jim from Texas. Took car to Gouverneur to have choke cleaned. Finished combining oats here.
