Dean Webb & Glenda Shorkey married. Mom, Uncle Len’s, Betty, Mr. & Mrs. Casselman, & Karon Hayes were here for picnic dinner. Joan here also. Jim & Joan went to show.

Very hot. 88° I helped Merrill with hay. Jim went swimming.

Nettie, Leah, Lois, Vi, Evelyn, & I, went to lodge meeting at Sacketts Harbor. I drove. Very hot.

We bought 17 cubic foot upright freezer at Sears, $257.00. Cooler today. Merrill worked at Ronas.

Sears brought new freezer. Froze raspberries in evening. Got stuff [stored frozen food] from Norton’s.

Quite warm. Tractor is 2 years old today.

Got white shirt, $2.60. Rose Dindle rode for last today. Joan was here for supper.

I took car to Gouverneur for speedometer cable. Washed clothes. Drew hay. Got black duster coat for $6.00 on sale.

Kenny Rudes stayed all night. He & Joan were here for dinner. Drew hay in AM.

Paid $3.00 on Times. No riders this week. Jim worked at North Country Supply.

Reader’s Digest expires this month. Wrote Vernon & June. Jim worked at Beebe’s [North Country Supply]. Cool.

Baler broke with Merrill. Rained some. Called Mom at noon.

Gary Farrell was speeding & was in a bad accident at Gunn’s Corners. One woman killed. Merrill went to work with me for baler parts. Jim & Joan came after me.

I went to Gouverneur for work on speedometer, $16.00. Joan & Tommy Farrell were here for dinner. Gary F. got home from jail.

Cloudy & rainy. Jim went to birthday party for Linda F. I washed & ironed. Merrill took clothes to Philadelphia to dry. Don & Juanita have baby girl born at 5:00 PM, Cynthia Kay. Mom called.

Fran & I went to hospital at noon to see Juanita & baby.

I went out to see Juanita in evening. Had Rebekah staff meeting at lodge hall.

Merrill, Joan, & I, went to Gouverneur Fair. Roy Acoff & Smoky Mountain Boys, & Red Foley played. Huge crowds. Jim did milking.

Evelyn went to hospital today. Rained hard in PM. Jim & Joan made pumpkin pie. Doris Aynes was here for first time with Avon.

Kids went to fair in evening. Rained. Got groceries. Freddie Sloan arrested on over 30 burglaries.

Mrs. Hale & I went to Bay Hospital to see Evelyn. Kenny, Brenda, & Joan were here for supper. Called Mom in evening. Les & Beulah Hall have invited us to Cranberry Lake tomorrow.

Bill, Vi, Merrill, & I, went up to Les & Beulah’s camp all day. Grand day but cold. Jim did milking.

Charlotte Presley rode to work in morning. Quite cool. Jim worked at Kettles. I worked on third floor today. Got thermos & bag. 50° last night. Got card from Vern & June from Niagara Falls.

Charlotte didn’t ride today. I worked upstairs.

Back downstairs at shop today.

I went up to Vi’s in evening to make staff plans.

Vern & June got here about 6:00 PM. Joan was here. Did work for me. Evelyn got home from hospital.

We went over to see Evelyn. Vern, Jim, & Merrill, worked on Jim’s car. Merrill put new wheel brake linings on truck. Kids went to show. Mom called.

We went out home for picnic dinner. Don’s, Ken’s, Mom, Marg & Roy, were there. Carleton Mayer stopped there in PM.

Rainy & cloudy. Lazy day. We went to city. Kids got three end tables. @ $8.98.

Vern, June, Merrill, & I, went to Canada & Seaway. Grand trip. Jim did milking. Joan was here in evening.

Jim Hudson 17, & Les Jolly 16, killed in accident at Theresa by under pass. Vern, June, Jim, & Joan, went to Canada to Ottawa. Merrill started combining at Art Haggerty’s. Rained. Washed & ironed.

Vern & June went to city to see Jan & Larry Corey in evening. Merrill combined at Art Haggerty’s. Rained hard in evening. Jim & Joan went to undertaker’s to see John Hudson & Lee Jolly.

June & I went to city in AM shopping. Howard & Evelyn, & kids here for picnic supper. Had party for June & Vern. Raining.

June & Vern left at 7:00 AM. Raining in AM. Got home at 7:00 PM. Vern called. Eleanor & kids came to camp. (Crystal Lake) We stayed for first night in tents. Just grand in evening.

Spent day at camp at Crystal Lake. Roy & Marg were out. Here for supper. Jim & Joan stayed at camp with Eleanor.

Cooler. I went back to work after 1 week off. Jim & Joan were here when I got home. Merrill broke down with combine. Jim milked. Past Grands at Vi’s.

Jim took his car up to Cross to be fixed. Raining. I got my orchid formal, $22.95 & shoes, $6.99. Jim got car license. Eleanor & kids went to city.

Merrill combined at Art’s [Haggerty]. Jim & Joan went to city. Jim got shirt & pants. Eleanor & kids were here a minute in evening.

Jim stayed all night at Joan’s as they are leaving early for Rochester. I went over to Art’s for Merrill.

Hot. Jim went to Rochester with Joan & her mother. Merrill finished combining at Art Haggerty’s. Stormed during night.

Jim’s 18th birthday. Had a picnic supper for him. Kenny, Brenda, Marty, Joanne, Jim, & Joan went to show. Jim got his car (1954 Pontiac) going.

We went to Crystal Lake. Eleanor & kids broke camp today. Beautiful day.

Very hot, 90°. Hall girls & I went to Crystal swimming. Merrill combined at Kettles. Washed.

Jim & Joan went to city. Jim registered at draft board. Jim got $5.00 gift certificate from kids for his birthday.

First day of school. Hot. School crowded.
