Hay too wet to rake. Put some in silo chopped. We all went to Theresa in evening. Men got hair cuts.

Leah & I went to Gouverneur. Got Jim overshoes for $2.50. Got 1 pair bed sheets. Quite warm today. Claude was here for dinner. Aunt Cora, Uncle Charlie, & 2 of Edna’s girls were here in evening.

Merrill went to Gouverneur for part for mower. Claude was here all day. Leah & Claude in evening. Baked. Made lemonade for picnic.

Merrill, Jim, & I, went to Crystal Lake on Grange picnic. Nice time. Vern stayed home & varnished Grange stands. Rained in PM & evening here.

Claude was here all day. Put hay in silo. Rained in PM. Don’s birthday. Sent him card. Flood kids were over.

Heard locus for first this year. Mom called to say they butchered pig yesterday. Jim & I went out home & stayed all night. Gave Mom & Juanita a Prom. Uncle Ed came & stayed over night with Vern & Merrill. Claude was here.

Jim & I got home about 10:30. Rained during night & all day. Uncle Ed left in evening. Froze the meat & made lard. Froze green beans.

Very hot. Claude was here in PM. Had cucumbers from garden. Loads of them in garden. Some large ones.

Vern took dining room table apart. Too wet to hay it all day. Drawed 2 loads at night. I had headache all day.

Rained hard in morning so couldn’t hay it. Bennett’s were here & brought paint for milk house. Merrill & I went to ice cream social. I went to show with Howard’s. Vern worked on table.

Lazy day. Drawed 4 loads of hay in late PM & evening. No rain today.

Washed & did some of ironing. Froze beets. Claude was here all day. Leah & Wilma Watts were here in evening.

Cloudy day. Finished ironing. Drawed hay all day. Washed windows. W.S.C.S. at Aunt Lou’s but I couldn’t go. Claude was here.

Claude was here all day. They mowed last field of hay. Finished drawing bales. We all went to Ed Schultz’s in evening. Took her bed stands to her.

Haggerty reunion at Grasse Point. About 80 there. Quite a few from Canada. Ethel Schultz, president. I’m vice president. Vern is secretary/treasures. Very nice time.

Washed clothes. Vern worked at Claude’s in PM. They all worked in evening. Claude finished haying. Merrill combined timothy at Lobdell’s.

Merrill finished combining at Claude’s & started Uncle Ray’s oats. Roy & Marg came about 11:00. We all went to city. Roy’s stayed all night.

Roy & Marg went home about 2:00 PM. Jim went out home with them. Rained all day. Uncle Ed came in evening.

Vern worked on table. Rained about all day. Uncle Ed still here. Cold. Coldest August 12th on record. 51°. Men put in 2 wall plugs in kitchen & dining room.

Friday the 13th. Only one this year. Uncle Ed went home this morning. Men combined oats at Uncle Rays. Vern finished making dining room table. Vern & I went to city for cherries. $5.95.

Lula & Louis Rappole’s anniversary. Merrill combined at Uncle Ray’s. Vernon & I went to Antwerp. Sent for signal lights & seat covers.

Kessel & Grace married. Merrill & I went to Grasse Point on lodge picnic. About 40 there. Quite cool. Aunt Cora & Uncle Charlie were here in evening. I was sick in evening.

Wrote Jim. Merrill finished Uncle Ray’s combining & started Bob Atcheson’s. Vern, Leah, & I went to city. Vern got eyes examined. Both glass changed. Leah got tooth pulled & eyes examined. Rained toward evening.

Merrill combined at Atcheson’s. Made pickles today. Leah & Claude, Merrill, Vern, & I went to Northside Drive In. Ma & Pa Kettle.

Merrill finished combining at Atcheson’s & started Noone’s. Vern & I washed & painted milk house.

Merrill finished combining at Noone’s. Vern & I went to city. Vern got new glasses. $12.00. Got stuff for school. Got Jim jacket. Vi & Martha were here in evening. Finished painting milk house.

Merrill started combining here. 85 1/2 bags. Real heavy. Mrs. Flood was here in PM. Washed clothes & cleaned.

Men finished combining oats. 122 bags. Did ironing & mowed lawn. Baked cakes & cookies.

Aunt Cora, Uncle Charlie, Merrill, Jim, & I went to Wolcott. Nice trip. Kessel is married. Leslie is living at home. Vern did chores. Got bushel of peaches. $3.00.

Canned & froze peaches. Merrill combined 4 acres of oats at Hales & started Art Casses 30 acres. Got letter from Mom.

Vi, Martha, Jim , & I spend day at Watertown fair in Home Bureau booth. Very hot. Rained in AM. Got signal lights. Men put them on in evening. Uncle Ray was down.

Still hot. Merrill combined at Art Casses. Jim & I went to city. Got house coat & work shoes.

Rained in night. Very cold today. Merrill combined at Casses in PM. Baked. Our heifer freshened. Cook’s brought new bull.

Washed. Merrill combined at Casses & Noone’s. Vern helped thresh at Claude’s. I painted porch & dining room window.

Vern helped thresh at Claude’s & Hugh’s. Merrill combined at Noone’s & Atcheson’s. Had flat tire on combine on way back to Casses. We all went to Northside Drive In in evening.

Merrill & Vern fixed fence around meadow. Cloudy day. Had sweet corn for first. Merrill, Jim, & I, went to city for ride. Got pears & tomatoes.

Rained about all day. Merrill, Jim, & I went to city. Circle meeting at Beulah’s but I didn’t go. Got new car slip covers. Had furnace fire. Cold.

Rained hard all night. Bad hurricane at Cape Cod where Howard Hall is. We all went out home for dinner. Poured all day long.

Painted kitchen cupboard yellow on inside. Got letter, & Jim got card from Uncle Berle. Vern built fence for Evelyn.

Jim’s birthday. Made him cake. Vern started guest book stand for church. Gave $2.75 for lumber. Washed. Painted kitchen table.

Martha Mowers was here all day. Merrill, Jim, Martha, & I went to show in evening. Baked pie, cakes, & cookies.

Cleaned kitchen. Waxed floor. Transplanted iris. Howard H. got home from reserve training.

School starts. Jim started going to Theresa. 6th grade. Goes in PM only. I went to city & got Vern suit.
