70° and 54°. A beautiful day. Not much of a breeze. Jessie here to clean. It feels so good to have the apartment all clean at once. She put my cactus plant in a new pot for me. Vi, Sally, Jessie and I all here when Charlie Came in with my lunch. He asked if we were having “An old Hen Party?” Angie, and Sally here in PM. Julie brought me soup in evening. I mailed my HEAP application.

A great day. Nice breeze. Angie here twice. Also Vi and Sally. Sally gave me a tomato. Centennial meeting in PM. First one this summer. Angie found out she only has to use the oxygen machine during the night. Nancy H called for prayer chain for Debby Sharkey. She had a breast removed and has cancer.

82° and 63°. Hot, humid and sunny. I went to exercise class. Good turn out. I got corn, melon and a peach from Farmer’s Market. Sally and Angie here. Jim called in PM. He’s going to Vermont Friday through Sunday on bike. Next weekend he goes to New Hampshire for the weekend.

65° and 61°. Cooler and cloudy. I cut my finger on can cover. Very deep. Lidia gave me a dish of spaghetti and meatballs. Good. Vi, Sally and Angie here. Vi gave me her half of Times paper renewal. Watertown’s public square is 200 years old. 1805, a big celebration all day ending with fireworks. Vern called in evening.

77° and 63°. I didn’t go to exercise class. My appointment with Dr. Weinstein at 10:15. Cheryl took me. I’m to think about having a colonoscopy. Angie brought an apple she had picked.

A nice day. Vi walked over to hospital with me. I had appointment with Mark Mazzie. Everything okay. I had blood work. Nurse Debby called in PM to say it was okay.

Hurricane Rita moving at 175 miles an hour toward Texas. Cheryl took me to Dr. Sanni at 11:15. The place was full. I ordered new right lens, $94.50 plus $23 for the exam. Vi and Angie here. Jerry Allen didn’t show up for entertainment. He’s in the hospital.

A cool, sunny day. Jessie here to clean. She shampooed my living room carpet. Vi and Angie here. Hurricane Rita almost to Texas. Flooding again in parts of New Orleans. Jolie called. She has changed jobs. Vern called in evening. They are coming tomorrow. Madison called in evening. She fell asleep on the phone. I talked with Zack and Jolie.

Sunny day. Nice. I went for coffee and donuts. Vern and June here. They took Vi and I to see the windmills in Lowville. Quite a sight to see. We watched them put the wings on one of them. Three men were high in the air working on it. We ate at Lighthouse Restaurant in Lowville. Vern’s brought me pens and a chair caddy, pie. Applesauce, jelly, frozen chicken and cards. My kids are so good to me. I wish I could do more for all of them. Hurricane not as bad as expected but bad in places.

I watched “Mayday” movie on TV in evening. Good movie.

A few showers. Cloudy all day. I went to exercise class. The Times paper said over 40,000 dead in Pakistan earthquake. So many are dead this summer around the world from hurricanes, mud slides, earthquakes and war.

51° and 28°. A nice sunny day. A heavy killing frost overnight. Jessie here to clean. My hanging lamp broke when Jessie was cleaning it. Three hours later the electrician was here and put up nice glass and gold trim. Vi was here.

Marilyn Rosbrook has breast cancer operation and Roseanne Lafave has colon cancer. Roseanne goes to Buffalo next week. She Boschock had her knee operation.

43° and 36°. Cloudy day. No rain. No exercise class. There was a flu clinic here today. I had mine. Vi and Angie were here. Our covered dish supper here. Small turnout but delicious food. I talked with Lyla. Jerry may have cancer on his kidney. He goes to Buffalo Wednesday.
