Nice day. Merrill got driveways opened again. Bread truck broke down. Wendell Fleming’s here for 2 hours. Jim went to Joan’s in evening.

No school. Started bath & hall. Merrill & Jim got 8 sheets of sheet rock, $16.39. Warmer & raining.

Watched Glenn return to Cape Canaveral. No school. Merrill, Jim, & I went to city for groceries. Jim got back income tax refund of $8.00. Got 2 TV trays at P&C. Jim went to game at city.

Men started working on hall & bathroom.Very stormy. No cars by all day. Jim went to Joan’s in evening. No mail because of storm.

Nice day today. Jim went to Joan’s. Washed my hair. Called Vi.

I have horrid headache. Wall paper came. Col. Glenn’s Washington, D.C. parade & welcome on TV. Got letter from June & Vern. Didn’t go to Past Grands at Vivian Myers.

Wrote kids. Feel better today. Tired. Worked at upstairs.

Watched Col. Glenn’s ticker tape parade in New York City. Plane crashed in New York City killing 97 people. Wrote Beulah Hall. Sent Fran card.

Fran’s birthday. I went to Gouverneur to meet MIC man. Merrill & I went to Theresa. Merrill got hair cut. Cold all day.

Jim & I painted bathroom first coat. Jim & Joan went to see King Of Kings.

Jim & Joan went to church. Joan was here for dinner.

Grand day. Washed & ironed. Painted bathroom second coat. I went to lodge practice in evening.

Started papering bathroom. Got letter from Mom. I didn’t go to W.S.C.S. at Addie Klock’s. Wrote Uncle Berle.

Merrill went to auction at Carthage with Howard, Nice day. Papered some of bath. Got card from Vern from Chicago. [Was there for Association of Higher Education Conference.]

Joan was here for supper. I went to first Civil Defense lesson at school. Wrote Mom.

Got income refund, $291.30. Wrote Mother Tryon. Merrill & I went to city for groceries. I got 2 pair Venetian blinds for bathroom & store room @ $2.99. Got curtains & medicine cabinet. Jim played benefit game with city. Lost.

Finished bathroom. Merrill & Jim put brakes on Jim’s car. Beautiful day.

Merrill, Jim, & I, went out home for dinner. Jim went to Joan’s in evening. Swell day.

Rainy & snowy. Washed.

I took car to Gouverneur. They have to paint it [car] as stuff wouldn’t come off it. Rainy.

I went to 2nd Civil Defense meeting. Took Jim’s car to Klock’s for valve job. Got letter from kids.

I went to Gouverneur for groceries. Swell day. They didn’t have Jim’s car done. Merrill & I went over to Hall’s in evening. Jim went to St. Patrick’s dinner at Theresa.

Beautiful day. Jim & I painted hall. Jim got his car home from Klock’s, $60.45. Connie was here. Kenny was here all night. Boys went swimming.

Colder but beautiful day. Merrill & I went for ride to Black Lake & Gouverneur. Jim went to Joan’s.

I went to Past Grands at Addie Klock’s. Nice time. Gave myself Lilt permanent.

Irene Sweetman 56 years old, died this morning at 4:45. Merrill & I started papering hall.

Raining. Worked at hall.

Had turkey & birthday cake for Merrill’s birthday. Joan here for supper. I went to Civil Defense & lodge practice.

Finished papering hall. Merrill got card & letter from Marg’s.

Merrill got cards & letters from Mom, & Juanita. Evelyn & I went to city. I got pocketbooks, underwear etc. Merrill & Jim went to auction with Howard. Got hall & back room in order. Jim went to city in evening for coat.

Nice day. Merrill went after Howard’s cultivator at Hammond. Wrote kids.

I have headache. Washed clothes.

Did ironing. Painted desk, rocker, & coffee table. Insurance man was here about Mosher’s accident.

lnitiation at lodge. Jennie Mercer & Kitty Dickson joined. About 65 present. Jim got hair cut. Painted table, desk, & rocker 2nd coat. Got letter from Mother Tryon.

70° today. Heard frogs on Theresa Road. Merrill & I went to Theresa. Got tan shoes, $5.00. Had last Civil Defense lesson. Had test.

Debbie’s 9th birthday. Got mural for stairway, $3.95. Painted stair steps.

Snowing hard. Ground covered. Finished stair steps. Dean & Glenda have baby girl.

Took car to Gouverneur for valve job. Still snowing. I went to District lodge practice at Antwerp.

Jim came home sick from school with sore throat. I have headache. I went to District lodge meeting at Antwerp. Good turn out.

I took our car to Gouverneur to have it painted. Drove a light blue 1957 home. W.S.C.S. covered dish meeting at church. I was elected secretary.

I took Jim to Mills to doctor. He passed out in office. Has tonsillitis. Joan here in evening. Got letter from Mother Tryon.

Jim lots better today. Joan & Furturo girts here in evening. Merrill put up wall mural. Got letter from Mom.

I went to Gouverneur for car. New paint job. Joan came home at noon with cold. Came here & spent night. Merrill & I went to Howard & Evelyn’s to play canasta. Jim lots better.

Today would have been Mother & Dad Tryon’s 56th anniversary. Merrill & I went over to Art Haggerty’s. Jim went to Joan’s. First time out.

Jim went back to school after having tonsillitis. Washed clothes. Rained.

Cold & rainy. Merrill has cold. He worked at Schell’s in PM. Made myself a housecoat.
