Terrible thunder showers this morning. We went out home. Merrill took Dad to Adams. We mowed yards. They haven’t found any trace of Jack Shelmedine yet.

Nice day after all the rain. Cool. Boys & I went huckleberrying. Vi, & Jessie K. & Martha went too.

Nice day. Drawed quite a lot of hay. Worked until 10:00 PM drawing hay. Rained again in evening. Froze some peas.

Boys, Merrill, & I went huckleberrying. Drawed some hay today. Didn’t go to church.

Washed & ironed. Baked pies & cakes. Painted front porch 2nd coat. Bolts in baler broke so Merrill had to go to Mills for them. Quite warm.

Another real warm day. Got 6 chickens ready for freezer. Waxed kitchen & bedroom floors. Merrill went to Mills again for links for baler. Killed 4 chickens in evening.

Cut & wrapped 10 chickens for freezer. Waxed kitchen floor. I drawed hay.

Stanley Party. Not many here but had $38.00 order. Made $6.00 for Home Bureau. Drawed hay. Awfully hot.

Tired today. Merrill baled hay. Also drawed hay. Rained in evening.

Baked. Raining. Merrill had work done on truck. We went up to hospital to see Ivan. Drawed hay in evening.

We all went to church. Merrill baled hay in PM. Quite hot.

Awfully hot. Drawed hay all day. Washed & ironed in PM. Heard on radio that Carl has landed in Seattle.

White washed barn. Raining this morning. Merrill took fat calf to sale. We went out home for dinner. Stopped at Adams to see Merrill’s folks.

Nice day but cool. We drawed hay all day. Archie Holmes died last night.

Merrill & I went with Grangers & IOOF to call at Holmes. Drawed hay all day. Helen gave me peas to freeze. Also froze Swiss chard & beans.

Baked pies, cakes, cookies, & doughnuts for freezer. Cleaned. Stanley stuff came. I got new bath brush. Carl arrived home from Korea. Gloria Congdon has baby boy. Robin Patrick Verbridge.

Aunt Cora Keller married to Charles A. Cross of Felts Mills. Worked in garden.

Grange picnic in park. We didn’t go. Vernon finished coffee table for Eleanor. Ate chicken dinner out doors.

Washed & ironed. Washed kitchen curtains. Finished haying.

W.S.C.S. but I didn’t go. Aunt Maude & Vickie were over. Went to Adams to see Carl. He got home from Korea August 3rd. He gave me linen table cloth. Merrill smoking jacket.

Kind of tired today. Delivered Stanley products. Washed rest of kitchen woodwork. Got puppy from Kiechle’s. $12.00. Named him “Teddy”. [He’s a] Rat Terrier.

Martha was over in PM & for supper. Made salad for Grange supper. Started reaping grain.

Set up grain. Awful warm.

Awful hot. Merrill & boys got hair cuts. Vernon mowed lawns. Baked cakes. Killed 2 roosters. Merrill started combining at Cass’.

Carl, Melba, Mother & Dad Tryon, & Kessel were here for dinner & supper. Orv, Angie, & kids, were here in PM.

Washed & ironed. Tired today. Set up grain.

Rained hard in morning. We went to city after boy’s pictures. Got bushel of peaches. $3.25. Rosie Halbert & kids were here in PM. We went to North Side Drive In [theater] in evening for first time. Saw.Yank in Korea.

Grange. Wayne Sharkey was over & helped set up grain. Canned peaches. Got 30 pounds cherries.

Raining again. Jim & I went over to Vi’s & planned church Chamber of Commerce Supper. Merrill set up grain. Vernon finished stands for bread man. Canned peaches & pickles.

Cloudy & cold. We all set up grain all day. About 28 acres of grain set up so far. Canned pickles.

Set up grain. Wayne was over & helped in PM. Was here for supper. Baked cakes. Finished reaping oats.

We went out home for dinner. Ken & Eleanor were there too. Helped Dad draw hay. Don & Juanita were here while we were gone.

Finished reaping grain. Reaped barley today. Washed clothes. Not feeling so good today.

G.L.F. Party. Merrill & Jim went. Merrill & Vernon went to city & got Vernon band saw. $76.50. Vernon made book rack. Canned peaches.

Juvenile Grange meeting. Boys & I went. Conferred degree on Caroline Bacon & Minnie Pike. Canned rest of peaches.

Men threshed at Webb’s in PM. Cloudy & cold.

Rained in AM. Men threshed at Webb’s in PM. Marguerite Beach in the hospital.

Men helped thresh at Webb’s all day. Nice day. I don’t feel too good. Changed living room furniture around.

Juvenile Grange picnic at Crystal Lake. 27 present. We all went. Grand day.

Washed & did part of ironing. Men threshed at Webb’s. Cleaned kitchen floor.

Took calves to sale. Vernon is sick. Merrill threshed at Bechard’s. Got ready for threshers tomorrow. Mr. & Mrs. Kiechle were here in evening.

Church Chamber of Commerce supper. I didn’t help. Had threshers again today. Awful hot.

Jimmy’s birthday. John & Charles were here for dinner. Uncle Len, Betty, & Abbey, were here in evening.

Washed. Wringer broke. Had 3 threshers for dinner. Finished threshing. 1753 bushel. Boys started in school. Jim, third grade. Vernon tenth grade.

Washed windows & cleaned. Helen took me to Mills for meat for Home Bureau wiener roast. Merrill threshed at Hardy’s & Bacon’s. Called Mom.

Rained so Merrill came home from threshing at Bacon’s. Home Bureau party here. 14 present. Grand time even if it did rain.
