Diary Entry for 5/8/1999

Finally raining this morning. Windy. Power off 3 hours for repair. 11 PM to 3 AM. Kathy here to get plant for Lyla. Food drive with mail man. Alice F called to say Roger Hall’s wife has had stroke in Maryland. One side paralyzed and she can’t see. She’s 34. Jim called to say they are on the way. A great day together with Jeanette Cobb and her granddaughter Whitney, 8 years old. We had so much catching up to do. She is Leslie’s oldest daughter. Nancy sent me a supply of hair curlers. Jeanette’s mother was June Rolf. She and Leslie never married as he was already married. I believe her name was Lyla Rickett. Jeanette says Lyla died in an asylum. We never knew that.
