Went over home in PM. Ken is sick in bed with tonsillitis. Wrote letter to Elmer. Grandma H. is in hospital for treatment.

Sent letter to Elmer & card to Tryon’s. Went to Adams & over home. Evelyn went with us. Dot was down.

Edith & Dot got permanents at Mrs. Porters. Made cookies to send to Elmer. Made bread. Grand day.

Washed cloths. Sent package of cookies to Elmer. Got coal & wood. Received letter from Gloria.

Mailman started bringing mail down to house. Grand day. Jimmy climbed stairs all alone. Found him in Vernon’s room.

Raining. Merrill fitted new front door. Made pumpkin pies. Canned pumpkin.

Got letters from Angie & Mom. Grandma not too well. Got Xmas cards ready in evening. Wrapped some gifts. Merrill got pay.

Cold & cloudy. Went to Ellisburg & over home. Merrill & Vernon got Xmas tree. Took one to Ronnie & Nancy.

The folks received Loren’s Purple Heart. No special celebration on our anniversary. Went to Lorraine in evening. Washed clothes. Set up Xmas tree & decorated it. Sent Xmas cards & letters to Grandma & Ethel. Sent order for Marie, Wards.

Having a blizzard. Vernon didn’t go to school because of storm. Got first Xmas card. (Aunt Keitha) Plow was over 3 times.

No school because of storm. Snowing hard. Dot & Evelyn were down. Got 3 Xmas cards. Mary S. [Stinson], Yerdons & Aunt Mildred. Sent $22.18 to Spiegel.

Vernon went to school today. Got Xmas cards from Marg. Made cookies. Snowing. Wrote to Grandma.

Got cards from Aunt Edna & Tryon’s. Shampooed my hair. Made pies & cake.

Got letter from Francis saying he got our Xmas package November 8. Took his letter 1 1/2 months to come. Got 7 cards.

Still snowing & blowing. Merrill finished making big sled & popped corn. Oren gave Vernon a box of Schrafts candy.

Cold & clear. Washed. Got “V-Mail” from Francis. Is in Italy. He wrote the letter December 1. Got 4 cards.

Vernon’s Xmas play. He sings in chorus. Vernon got report card. Got Xmas cards.

Another storm. Vernon didn’t go to school. No bus. Got 3 Xmas cards. Boys got Bible Books from Aunt Mildred & Uncle Berle. Aunt Edna Cobb is in the hospital.

Clear, cold. Vernon didn’t got to school. His tree at school is today. Lorraine road not open. Sent cards. Evelyn & Arlene were down. Evelyn gave Jimmy rag doll.

Vernon went to school half day. Get out at noon for Xmas vacation. Went to Adams, Lorraine, & Dad’s. Grandma got out of hospital yesterday. Merrill got shovel. $.95 Vernon got hair cut. Got 1 card.

Got letter from Mother Tryon. Got 1 card. Painted storm door. Made Xmas fudge. Merrill went to Lorraine in evening Got hair cut.

Merrill put on new door. Made ice cream for Xmas. Arlene was down. Brought Xmas presents down. We had our tree in evening.

Went over home for dinner & supper. Grandpa & Grandma H. were there. Had a nice Xmas. Stormy.

Vernon is feeling better. Jimmy not so good. Can’t sleep. Lots warmer today. Merrill got pay.

Cloudy but warmer. I didn’t sleep at all last night. Sally K. picture was in Sunday paper announcing her engagement to Ralph Bittenger.

Merrill milked 23 cows in morning. Buster didn’t get home. Rained all night.

Another blizzard. No mail or school. Awful cold. Vernon & Jimmy feeling better. Oren didn’t take milk.

Hardly any roads open. Got mail today. No school. Got letter from Mr. Hungerford.

Some snow storm. Everything buried (car, pig pen). Merrill got here for breakfast at 11:30. Snow even with windows.

Clear day but cold. Went to Adams in evening to see Mr. Hungerford. I met them for first time. We can have place.

Merrill asked Oren if he’d let him go March 1st. Under new law have to have draft board consent to change jobs. Oren doesn’t like idea of Merrill leaving.

Sent letter to Mom, Aunt Mildred & Angie. Warmer. Vernon went to school for first since Xmas. Dorothy & Evelyn were down. Arlene has mumps. Merrill cleaned stovepipes.

Letters didn’t go yesterday. Mailman didn’t come down. Did today. Oren found Arlene place to stay at Oswego.

Awful cold last night 40°-50° below zero. Wrote Marg & Arlene. Merrill got pay. Train wreck at Richland. Mail went at 3:00 PM. Got letter from Marg & Mother T.

Marion Stillman Moreton has baby girl. Got letter from Mom. Merrill went to see Draft Board. Told him he couldn’t change jobs. Sent $27.79 to Spiegel for coat. Washed clothes.

Storming again. No school, mail. or milk truck. Moved to bed downstairs.

Jimmy went outdoors & played with Vernon today. Mom, Dad, Dorland came up. Killed pigs. Was here for supper. Sold Oren one 105 pound @ 21 ¢. Got card from Annie.

Went over home in PM. Merrill went down to see Mr. Hungerford. Said we could have farm in November if possible. Mrs. H. gave us magazines.

Washed clothes. Dot was down. Moved bed back upstairs.

Quite windy. Vernon got out of school early because of storm. Watkins man was here. Made ice cream. Eggs (52 ¢ dozen)

Vernon didn’t go to school. No roads open. Quite cold. Plowed roads in AM. Got mail. Fried out lard & baked pies.

Sent letter to Mother T. & Card to Marg. Got letter from Marg. Got True Story. Jimmy & I went up to Barkers in afternoon. I weigh 153 lb.,Jimmy 28, Vernon 58, Merrill 155.

Baked cookies. Wrote to Arlene & Marg Stinson. A grand day.
