Winter vacation, no school. 4-H Dress Evaluation at Philadelphia Fire Hall. I took five of girls. Sharon was judge. 10 below in morning. No mail. Marie, Jamie, Nora and Linda got blue. Judy, Jackie, Debbie, Vicki, Lorraine, red. Jim, Pat and Jolie here for supper and evening.

No school. 4-H swim at Y, 1-2 PM. All went but 2 Debbie’s and Sharon. Mary took load of girls. Merrill went to Fry’s for tractor lever. Got card from Pearl Payne from Florida.

No school. Sent WSCS Evaluation Reports. They are a month late as Esther just got them to me. I didn’t go to Lodge. Leah called. Mrs. Andrews funeral today.

No school. I have headache. I got Bible, The Living Bible Paraphrased from Christianity Today. Got magazine for one year, $7.50. Merrill cleaned out driveways with blade. I went to Bible Study at Wheeler’s with Ruth Eg in evening.

No school. I went to Philadelphia to bank and grocery store. Cleaned house. Washed clothes. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Sent income tax, $522.60. Sent Life insurance, $54. -10° at 7 AM, 22° during day.

Snowed during night some. Stopped in AM. Nice day. Bob F called to say doors for parsonage didn’t come.

A beautiful day. Warmer. We went to church. Danny T had charge. We went in evening to see slides of the Holy Land by Mr. and Mrs. Ball. Very beautiful. Vic Delles died today. He fell.

Pres. Nixon and staff land back in Alaska from China. Back in Washington in evening. Merrill cleaned out dishwasher strainers. He went to Theresa for washer seal. Wesley Grahams have trailer by cemetery. Wasn’t there yesterday.

Leap Year. Warmer. I went to Bible Study. Margaret G had lesson on prayer. Nice lesson. Minister’s study is so nice. Wrote Uncle Berl and Ruth Schell. We went to Vic Delles’ wake. They took Eva to Bay hospital. Bob called in evening. Doors are here. Chief Tousette retires.

City Police Chief Loftus 45, Dep. Police Chief Kellar 55, Sgt. Watson 33, names at 8 AM. I taught Esther’s release Time Class. Merrill helped at parsonage putting on door. Raining and freezing on. Wrote Glen F, Fran S, and Pastor’s.

4-H Dress Review at IRCS postponed a week because of freezing rain. Made cake. Esther T got my eye drops at city.

World Day of Prayer. Quite a few out. Took in $17.80. Rev. Blankenship got back from Georgia in time for part of it. Wrote Dorothy Hogaboom.

-12° this morning. Nice all day. Washed clothes. Washed my hair. New furniture factory opened in city where Wilber’s store was on Mill Street.

Snowy and blowing. We went to church. Rev. Blankenship back. Ruth and I started for Singspiration at Mills, but was too stormy. New Jersey neighbor arrived. Pipes froze. Merrill went over to help Carl Kellenbeck start his furnace. Called Aunt Maude.

Wrote Vern’s, and Uncle Berl, and sent money to NY Florist for Bill’s flowers. Beautiful today but cold windy. Made cookies, Jell-O, and meat loaf.

Bible study, Was so snowy and windy we didn’t go. Merrill took Pat B to Gouverneur to see about his car. He took it over in PM to be fixed. WSCS at Esther T.

Rebekah’s. I went. Not too many out. Snowing hard when I came home. Very icy in places. Called kids about dress review and flowers. Barbara Brotherton called. Storming terrible at Boonville and Pulaski.

4-H Dress Review at IRCS. 155 kids modeled. Good crowd. I took load. Donna took some. Norma Gee and kids here selling cards. Made cookies. Beautiful day but very icy. Pat was over. His name is Brancatella

Uncle Berl’s birthday. 4-H flower orders to be in. Sent it today. I went to Philadelphia for groceries and to bank. Cleaned house. Merrill went to Philadelphia in PM. Got hair cut. Took Lodge check to Carl K. Jim Hardy here. George, age 82 died yesterday. Sent Insurance, $281.53.

I took Ruth, Pearl, Vi, and Leah to Full Gospel Meeting. Cota Deir speaker. We went to funeral home for George Hardy. We went to Centennial Dance and program in evening. Very nice. Pat B went back to New Jersey. Came over before he left.

George Hardy’s funeral, 82.. Merrill was a bearer. We went to Sunday School and church. Beautiful day. Brenda and Bill here in PM. Were looking at farm at Evans Mills. First time Bill has been here.

I was sick in bed all day with intestinal bug. Merrill called Jim’s not to come today.

Snowing all day. I didn’t go to Bible Study. Not too peppy yet. Got letter from June. Marva called in evening.

Wrote June and Vern. Washed clothes. Baked pumpkin pies and spice cupcakes and cake. warm. Thawing today. Did my hair. Put rinse on it. Merrill has lame knee. Cow freshened. Martha B called.

Vern flies to Maryland. Sent Roberta card, letter, and $5. Sent for Billy Graham’s gift. Sent $10 for crusade. We went to Philadelphia for jars in AM. Went to Bible Study at Payne’s with Ruth in evening. About everyone that went to Full Gospel had the bug.

Foggy. Roberta’s 20th birthday. There are 1000 4-H members in Jefferson County, 4 million in US. Fried donuts. Still foggy in evening. Cactus plant has blossom. Vern and June called in evening. He had good trip to Maryland. Gets his degree [Ph.D.] June 3rd.

Snowing all day. Lazy day. Wrote Beulah and Les Hall. Allyson Eggleston’s 6th birthday.

Beautiful day. Cold wind. We went to Sunday School and church. Went out to Mom’s. Stopped at Fays store on way for eye drops. Don was sick with bug. Kids also. Jim called to say they would be out tomorrow. Wrote Dot.

PNG’s at Zelda’s. 16 out. Nice time. Jim, Pat and Jolie here for dinner. Jolie so big. she has outgrowed all her shoes and clothes. Jim said lots were sick after retiring chief Tousette’s Hotel Woodruff party. Sent letters to Beulah H and Dot M.

Bible Study. 26 out. Kitty White, Mrs. Comps and Linda Matt came for first time. Sent birthday cards to Eva D. Merrill got lots of cards and letters. He got one from Gladys yesterday. Eva is 78 years old today.

Merrill’s 63rd birthday. I got him frozen short cake and box of candy at Philadelphia. He got more cards. Rained all day and evening. Released time for Margaret Matt. There was water in church basement. Snowing in evening. I went to Lodge in evening.

Snowed all night. Roads very slippery. Snowed all day but melted some. 40° Washed clothes.

Got letter from Roberta at school. 4-H here. Meals 10-Day, The Easy Way Lesson I. 14 here. 2 guests, Lori G and Barbara Wilcox. Debby Hall not here. Sent for wallpaper for our bedroom. Send cards to Eleanor, Juanita, and D Wayne. Still snowing. Called Aunt Maude. We went to Philadelphia to store.

4-H Fashion Show at Carriage House. None from our club went. Donna came down and cut my hair. Gave her $2. Eleanor’s birthday, 44. Snowed some. Merrill got card from Mother Tryon.

Jim’s gave Merrill bedroom slippers. Jolie gave him nuts. Juanita’s 43rd birthday. David Wayne, 2nd. Palm Sunday. We didn’t go to church. We went to Jim and Pat’s for dinner. Patty’s father there also. Stopped at Fays and got Jolie blue outfit. Called Dorothy H. Cut out yellow dress. Cactus has second blossom.

Cloudy. 30°. Merrill went to Theresa bank. I cleaned dresser drawers. Cleaned floors. Made yellow dress for summer. Hem and belt yet to do.

Apt with Dr. Scanlon, 2:30 PM. Changed drops to 2%. Cost $3.35 for twice as large bottle at Fays. We took high chair to Jim’s. Patty’s father got a job at Howlands Store. Security guard.

Send Easter cards. Beautiful spring like day. Merrill broke road back to bask [?] lot. I took stuff out of our clothes closet.

Bob Flaherty’s 70th birthday. Communion Sunday at Church. We went. Just Philadelphia people there. I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Picked up raffle tickets at Lois. Left Mary some. We stopped at Bill and Vi’s in evening.

Bought Lily from MYF, $4. Sent Dave card. Got bedroom wallpaper. Good Friday, no school. Cleaned church at 1 PM. Cleaned basement and set tables. Joyce, Margaret, Judy S and I. Marva helped set tables. Merrill put new leathers in pump. Got letter from Beulah H. Rebekah’s made $118.85 on raffle ham.

Nice day. Washed clothes. Cleaned. Merrill took porch doors, storms, off for summer. Got cards from Vern’s and boys. A great spring day. 50° Washed my hair.

Easter Sunday. Dave’s 18th birthday. I went to Sunrise Service but not breakfast. Church full. Many from Mills there. We went to Roma’s in Gouverneur for dinner. Took Lily plant to church. Called Jim’s. Ethel Tousley got home from Syracuse hospital.

Council of Ministry at Parsonage. 11 present. Matt’s first meeting as chairman. Kevin Lawler killed in bulldozer accident this morning. Jim, Pat, and Jolie here for dinner and PM. They got Jolie a new walker. She broke it so they had to take it back. Glen Shurtliff died. [He is] Also Ivan Hales brother.

WSCS at Leah’s. Nice meeting. 13 out. Snow flurries. I went to Bible Study with Ruth. Millicent and Dawn here in PM. I shortened Millicent’s new coat.

Snowing off and on. Glenn Shurtliff’s funeral. Dawn here while Evelyn went to funeral. We started bedroom. The ceiling half of it fell off. Some mess. I went to Bible Study with Ruth in PM at parsonage.

Snowing all day. Ivan Hale’s brother’s funeral. Dawn came here after school Worked at bedroom. Cold in evening.

Rebekah’s District Meeting at Theresa. Leah Simonds new DDP, 6:30, cold cuts and salad, Jell-o and cup cakes supper. 48 Past Grands there, 16 from Philadelphia. Merrill put new float in water tank. Got it at Theresa.

I went to Full Gospel Breakfast. Took Leah, Vi and Ruth. Ruth came home with Ann, I got record of girl that sang, Barbara.

We went to Sunday School and church. Terry Orton preached, John Wheeler’s nephew. Church full. Baptized 3 babies. We went up to Uncle Len’s in PM. They are well. Everett not working from back injury.
