Boys & I went to church. No company today.

Washed & ironed. Made cakes. Went to Leah’s & worked on church supper committee. Helen & kids were here in evening. Merrill went to Lodge.

They took Myrtle Duff to hospital last night (virus). They moved Doris Aynes to Mercy Hospital from the [Alexandria]Bay. She has baby girl. Took 4th dress lesson.

Appointment with Dr. McAskill for Vernon at 10:00 AM. He had to have one glass changed. Put him on Vitamin A . Jim & I went to show with Helen & kids.

First snow flurries this season. Snowing hard. Cleaned living room floors. Went to Civilian Defense lesson in PM. Home Bureau food lesson & party at Dot’s. Grand time.

Put 2nd coat of tung seal on rugs. Still very snowy & blowing. Plow was out.

Was so stormy I didn’t take Vernon to city after glasses. Cleaned dining room & kitchen. Baked cake. Changed dining rooms.

I was sick in bed with intestinal grippe. Men brought my new Necchi sewing machine.

I’m up today but very weak & shaky.

Election day. I helped in dining room for W.S.C.S. supper. Good turn out. Sim Austin got Road Commissioner. Plow was in 2 times for first this winter.

No Grange because it is so icy. Telephone out of order. Was sleet storm during night.

Carl is stationed at Indian Gap. Carl, Mother, & Melba was here for dinner. Made Carl cake. Merrill & Carl took Vernon to city for new eye glass.

I went to freezer demonstration at Mary Beebe’s in PM. Had dance at Lodge in evening. We all went. Grand time.

Washed clothes. Dressed 4 roosters. Froze carrots & beets. Vernon started sewing machine desk.

Put on storm windows. Didn’t go to church as we had planned to go out home but didn’t get there.

No school. We all went to city. Washed clothes. Grand day. Merrill went to Lodge. I gave 5th dress lesson at Vi’s.

Did ironing. Went to 2nd Civilian Defense lesson in PM.

Froze carrots & beets. Went to W.S.C.S. dinner & meeting at church. Aunt Walt’s was there. Men came & got old sewing machine. I went to Lodge in evening.

Worked all day on wool dress. Went to 2nd decorative stitching lesson at Helen’s in evening.

Took 5th & final dress lesson. Roy Kiechle cut off his fingers & thumb of his right hand in the plainer. He is in Mercy Hospital. Rained all day.

Merrill & I went to city. Got Vernon pants & Jim shirt. Got gifts for Lodge. We all went to Home Bureau party at Lucy Neville’s. Grand time.

Lazy day. Mom called & asked us out for Thanksgiving.

Washed. Finished cotton dress. Baked cookies & cake. Did some of ironing.

Ironed. I went to Civilian Defense lesson at Legion in evening.

Roy came home from hospital. Got basket ready for Roy Kiechle. Edna Fikes was over to get help on dress. I went to Grange. Good turn out. Nothing special for my birthday. (34 years old)

Thanksgiving. We went out home for dinner. Grandpa is out there. He was out there to vote in election. Has never missed a year [voting] yet. Boys took Roy Kiechle basket.

Vernon worked on sewing machine desk. Merrill & I went to party at Lodge. Merrill helped Lester Webb put in cement floor.

Snowed during night. Roads quite slippery so we didn’t go to city.

Made Jim pajamas. We all went to church.

Merrill & I went to city. Very wet stormy day. I wrote several letters. Merrill went to Lodge.

Men went to Lodge meeting at Carthage. I washed clothes.

Henry Pollock is in the hospital with brain tumor. Minnie Henderson is in hospital. I went to Lodge.

Henry Pollock is just alive. Nice day. I went to a Chairman Council meeting at city. Merrill went shopping. Helen was over in evening. I got dress hung.

Vernon’s first basketball game as time keeper. Henry Pollock died today. age 44. Ida Pollock, Mrs. Crook & Lena Klock, had accident on way to hospital. Merrill & Jim went to show. I went to Stanley Party at Mary B.

We all went to city shopping. Terrible crowds. Got cloth for Mom’s dress. Boys did Xmas shopping.

Grand day. Just like spring. Lazy day. We didn’t go to church. Mom called. Ken’s want us to come out there for Xmas. Boys wrapped Xmas gifts.

Washed & ironed. I went to Henry Pollock’s funeral. Merrill went to Lodge in evening.

George Henderson butchered bull beef. Very warm. I went to W.S.C.S. Xmas party at church. I went to Home Bureau lesson on huck toweling at Lois Wards. Vernon went to basketball game at Theresa.

Still very warm. Jim didn’t go to school. Had stiff neck. I went to Grange. I started Mom’s dress.

Sent for patterns for huck toweling. Worked on Mom’s dress. Merrill took sunshine basket to Alex Duff in evening. George Waters went with him.

Pearl Harbor Day (10th anniversary) Thunder storm in morning. Very warm. We cut up & wrapped beef.

Finished beef. Had hamburg ground at Ashley’s. Baked cake. Merrill got hair cut. Sent Roy birthday card. Lois & Earle White have baby girl. Nancy Marie.

Raining. We went out home for dinner. Got Xmas tree. We are having Xmas at Dad & Mom’s.

Merrill & I went to city Xmas shopping. Merrill went to Lodge. They had party for Carl Hall at Lodge. He is home on furlough. He goes to state of Washington on Wednesday.

Our 16th anniversary. Merrill & I went to city in PM after part for milking machine.

Xmas party at Lodge. I went.

Vernon has to get gifts for Mr. Riley, Mr. Hayden, & Miss Voch for freshmen & sophomores. Helen & Jim were here. Jane talked to me on phone. Wrapped gifts.

Worked on Mom’s dress. All done but hem. Vernon went to basketball game at Cape Vincent. Philadelphia lost their first game.

Snowing & blowing. Plow was over. Vernon has terrible cold.

We all went to church. Very cold. Washed clothes in evening. Washing machine broke.
