Went over home for chicken dinner. Went to Smithville in afternoon to see Dee Smith. Rome, Italy was taken today. Is second anniversary of Midway.

Arlene was here. Got graduation invitation from her today. Painted some of kitchen. Mother & Daughter banquet tonight.

Mother, Dad & Don were up for dinner. Gave Mother writing paper & dish for birthday. Raining & cloudy.

Arlene was down. Vernon got out of school at 11:00 today. Picked enough strawberries for cake from our own patch.

Evelyn, Arlene, Dot, & Oren Jr. were here. Canned pie plant & strawberries. Worked in garden. Vernon got out of school for vacation.

Went to Watertown & got my glasses fixed. Left Jimmy at Mom’s. Had terrible thunder storm last night. Rained all day too.

Canned 6 pint strawberries. Went over home in PM. & got 2 little pigs. ($10.00 for 2)

Made strawberry jelly. Washed clothes. Evelyn & Arlene were down. Arlene graduates tonight from high school. Vernon got new suit & raincoat.

Jimmy is 10 months old. Went over home in PM. I drove the car. Dot & Arlene were here. Vernon stayed over home.

Cut Jimmy’s hair. First time. Washed clothes & canned berries. Evelyn was down. Shampooed my hair. Got letters from Angie & Mother T.

Went over home for dinner. Had chicken & ice cream. Ken & his girlfriend Eleanor Jacobs brought Jimmy, Vernon, & I home in evening.

Jimmy got his first War Bond $25.00. I wrote to Gloria, Lila, & ration board. Sent for dress. Evelyn was down.

Merrill isn’t feeling good. Worked all day though. Vernon went to factory with Oren. Put on screen door.

Merrill is real sick. Oren, Arlene, Mom & Dad were here.

Merrill went up to see Dr. Babcock. Said he had infection. Marg & I went with Merrill. Stopped at Aunt Mildred’s. Left Vernon & Jimmy over home. Got new hat. Canned cherries @ 26 ¢.

Merrill only helped milk today. Washed clothes, canned & bugged potatoes. Jimmy has learned to creep all over. Dot & Arlene were here.
