Sunny hot 82° Got down electric fan. I called Juanita but she had gone to a craft show with Christine Shelmadine. Talked with David. We ate picnic lunch on side porch. Alice Flaherty’s 89th birthday. Merrill had a read bad day. He is much better with people around.

Cloudy, raining. Juanita called me at 7:30 AM before I got to call her. She will come when I get home from hospital. Brenda wants to bring her out. Tina here. It will be her final visit until I bring Merrill home from Genesis. I cooked 19 pound butterball turkey in oven. A young mother 19, killed up on Route 11 during night. Her 7 month old baby unhurt. The car rolled over several times. She lived at 801.

Hot and very humid. Rain in evening. Some thunder and wind. Merrill went to day care. Denise here to help. I washed clothes. Also cut up turkey to freeze. Mary Hall here in evening. Rosie G is taking me to city Friday as Mary has another commitment she forgot about. Lyla called. Her doctor gave her a real good report today. Everything coming fine. Got note and their trip itinerary from June and Vern.

Cloudy cooler. Sun out some. Denise here to clean. She went for groceries. Rosie Gleason called also business office of SMH. We received graduation invitation from Heather Boschock. I used to baby sit her and her sister. Vern called in evening. They leave in morning for Pennsylvania.

Merrill went to day care. Denise here in morning. Pre op tests 10 AM. Also appointment for blood Procrit shot. I had blood shots and all the pre op tests. Not so much walking this time. Rosie Gleason took me to city. We ate lunch at Schulers. I lost my “friends” necklace Jolie gave me. I feel so bad. The guy asked me to take it off while I had a chest Xray. He took it off me and I put it in my purse but isn’t there. Someone mowed the lawns while I was gone. Probably Linda. Monroe’s mowed lawns on their new property across road. Pre Op, Dr. Powell’s office had Procrit shots. Hospital paper work, EKG’s, Therapist, anesthesiologist, blood work, medical check up, temperature, throat culture, chest Xray.

Cool wind but nice. Jim returned my calls. He lost his cell phone in his truck last night. I washed clothes. I gave Linda $40 for mowing lawns last week and yesterday. Brent Toomey at Linda’s. John’s father dies so he and Darcie at Ballston Spa. We got letters from Trises. Real estate Genervas telling about their house sale. $77,000.

Cloudy, sunny, windy, hot, muggy day. We went to church. Lyla took us 109 out 40 in Sunday School. Sunday School picnic but we didn’t stay. Awards given out next Sunday. I called Jolie, Zack, and Shawn Michael. She and Shawn Michael will be coming after the 22nd. They will stay with me. They are going to visit Mt Rainier today. Zack says when they wake up it is like a picture out there bedroom window. They purchased a new crib for the baby. A designer round one with canopy. $300.

A terrible hot, humid day 90°. The Ashley twins 5th birthday. Karie and Kellie. I washed clothes. I reported my phone. Very noisy at times. Dr. Powell’s office (Karen) called. He wants me to have another urine test at the hospital tomorrow. Lyla can’t take me as she’s going to Samaritan outing. Jim will take us but has a meeting first. I have a scratchy throat and feel terrible. Merrill very upset all evening.

Another hot day. Windy. Bell Atlantic here to fix telephone. I called Dr. Powell’s office. Care givers and transportation office.

Dr. LaPoint 8:30 AM. She put me on antibiotic for urinary infection. Eye appointment 10:45 AM. Dr. Burk put me back on Cosept plus Alphagen. Procrit shot 12:30. Had 3rd and final shot. Genesis Interview 1:30 PM. Lisa Brown met with Vern, June, and I. She showed us around. My eye pressure was 17 and 18. They dilated my pupils and took Xrays of both eyes. First time I’ve had Dr. Burke. She’s very good. We went to Pharmhouse for drugs.

Dr. Mirza-Merrill 10 AM. Everything okay. Janet likes us. Denise here to clean. Her last cleaning day. Jolie called in evening. They will be coming around the 28th. I labeled a lot of Merrill’s clothes in evening. He has to take a weeks supply of clothes. We got note and a lot of cute pictures of Lydia. Wish we could see her.

A hot sunny, summer day. Nice breeze. Merrill went to day care. Denise here to help. Chad Dudley here. I called transportation and nutritional center. Lyla called. Also Rev. Jane. I worked all day getting Merrill’s clothes reading to take with him Monday. They want seven of everything. Lisa Brown called to say Marge Cook will be taking Merrill to his room 289 Madonna at 10:30 Monday. Rev. Jane here in PM. So good to talk with her. Jolie called about 5 PM. She and Shawn Michael will be here June 21. Get to Syracuse 9:30 AM and go back July 7 at 4:50 PM. Vern called and said they’d be out tomorrow.

Another hot sunny day. Vern took trash up on the hill. Vern and June here about all day. They have a beautiful 1996 Buick car, burgundy wine color. Everything on it, even seat warmers. 25,000 miles on it. They brought beautiful gray carpeting for side porch and Vern installed it. Also made a new door threshold. June brought lunch with her. Good. I called Jim. He’s working today. His Sgt had day off. Jim took yesterday off. June helped get Merrill’s stuff ready. I washed clothes. Bea Gehm died a year ago today.

Hot humid and cloudy. 85°. We went to church. 88 there. Debbie Donaldson and her dance group of Ganonoque Canada there. Nice. The dance company 10 mountain battalion from Fort Drum was suppose to be there but they got a four day pass so none of them showed up. A picnic and cook out after church just the same. I washed the rest of Merrill’s clothes but dryer broke down. I called Jim. He was here on his cycle this PM. He straightened bird feeder and bird bath.

Cooler some but cloudy. Little rain about 4:30. Windy. Vern and June came and took me to nursing home at 10 AM. Jim met us there. Denise here to help get Merrill off. Merrill enters Genesis Nursing home from day care. Room 389A. Merrill went to day care on his bus. They brought him to his room and then he went back to day care. He will be going 5 days a week. He accepted the change fine so far. We ate lunch at Schulers. Stopped at Gladys Lamon’s but she wasn’t home. Vern fixed outside side porch door. Cut it off and put a strip on it. Also fixed garage door Merrill bent. Got a real nice letter from Debbie. She’s doing construction. Gets $10 an hour. Jolie sent me bookmark from ancient people. Vivian was over. Lyla called.

Much cooler. Only up to 59°. Cloudy. I washed clothes. Got some of my stuff in suitcase for Thursday. Vern called about 9:30 AM. He had called Genesis. Merrill had a good night except he couldn’t find the bathroom. Jim called Genesis about 10:30 AM and then called me. Good report. Jim called in evening. He had stopped up to see his dad. He was sitting in the hall by the elevators. He told the other guy with him that Jim was his son. They are having trouble getting his pills down. Darcie called in PM. We talked a long time. I got Ohio pictures from her. Jill called from work. Good to hear from her. Rev. Jane called in evening.

Cold and sunny. Alice Flaherty called. It’s so good to talk to her. Vivian called. They are moving to camp for the summer today I got upstairs ready for company. Vern and June got here at 2:30. We went out to see Merrill. Ate supper at Philadelphia Restaurant. Lyla was over in evening. Jolie, Jim, Sue and Steven all called to wish me luck. Lyla was over in evening.

My knee operation (left) 8:30 AM. Vern and June came after me. Jim there also. All went well until they gave me 2 pain killers and my pressure dropped way low. Patty and Jill there. They brought beautiful flowers. Jim and Nancy brought me pretty bouquet also.

Day 1. Vern and June here. Brought me fresh strawberries and grapes. Jim and Nancy left for Harley bike relay to New Hampshire. Lyla sent me pretty plant. Jolie sent me sweet prayer wish box.

I walked a few steps today. Also finally had a BM. Vern and June came again today. Patty was here.

I miss seeing Merrill. It’s the longest we have been apart, four days. I saw him last Wednesday. I’m feeling stronger all the time. I walked out into the hall. The cleaning lady put my flowers on a table foot of my bed. They look so pretty. One from Patty and Jill, Jim and Nancy, and Lyla. Steve called after lunch. He didn’t say anything about coming to see me but he, Vern, June showed up at hospital. Steve met them in Pulaski

Another beautiful day. It has been a great week while I have been here. Dr. Powell here this morning. Says I can go home after therapy tomorrow. Dr. Powell took my handicapped blank to fill out. I went to therapy twice down stairs. Feels great. Vivian here. Brought me box of Russell Stover Lemon Squares.

Another great day. I came home from hospital at 2:30. Vern, June, and Juanita brought me. Great to be home. Vern went to post office for mail and June and Vern went to store. Jolie called in evening. Baby doing lots of kicking.

Another beautiful day. 86° but nice breeze great. Nurse Jane Bryant here for therapy. Dr. Powell asked for her for 2 weeks. Nurse Marguerite went to enroll me. Jim called. He went over and got Merrill washed, dressed, and off to day care. He wouldn’t go to bed and was still in yesterday’s clothes. We got dinners from nutrition center. Had enough for two meals. Paper started up tonight. Jolie called. Doreen and kids are coming over tomorrow. Juanita cleaned silverware drawers.

A great summer day. Nurse Tina here to take my blood. Good to see her. She was Merrill’s nurse. I called for appointment with Dr. LaPoint, July 1st 9:15 AM. Jim called twice. Merrill went to day care. Seemed glad to go. Doreen, Alexis, and Stephen here in PM. Stephen so big. Lyla called. Kate Monroe died yesterday. Margaret Kiechle called. Got letter from Jolie. Doreen read it to me. It was on yellow paper and red ink. Jolie is so sweet to keep sending me letters, cards and gifts.

Finally rain. Good to have it cooler. I called Genesis. Talked with Merrill. He sounded fine. He said he’d go to day care. Sure good to talk with him. New Baptist minister and Eugene brought dinners and ha prayer with us. Rev. Jane here in PM. Had prayer with Juanita and I. Therapist Jane Bryant here. Mary Hall here. Angie Brancatela very ill with aneurism in Samaritan Hospital. Graduation tonight. I called Jim. He will take us to see Merrill tomorrow. Jolie called in evening. They are getting excited to get here.

Cooler but great. I called June to wish her happy birthday today. It’s her 61st. Jim came out and got car going. He put new battery in it and took it to car wash. Put fluid in it. Jim took us out to see Merrill. He was glad to see us. He had someone else’s pants on. He hadn’t got undressed last night. His watch was missing but Jim found it. Had gone to laundry. Elmer called in PM. I was getting ready to call him. They are at Wolcott. Will come out Wednesday. Lyla was over in evening and spent evening.

A nice supper day. We didn’t get to church except on TV. Wayne H called to see if we wanted to go to church. Jolie and Shawn Michael fly into Syracuse airport at 9:30 AM. Jim picked Jolie up. They got here at 12 noon. Shawn and Nancy picked Shawn Michael up. Jolie went over to Darcia’s awhile. Jim left to go to Watertown graduation. The hottest day yet. 100° PM. Linda and Darcy here. Jolie finally slept in grandpa’ chair. They had a good flight, but Jolie didn’t sleep. Shawn Michael did. Zack called Jolie at 12 last night.

Rained during night. A little lightning. Terry Hughes, nurse, here at 8:30 AM. Dr. Powell 12:45 PM. He took out my stitches. Everything fine. Feels good now. Monica Dontiur, therapist here. Jolie drove Juanita and I to city. We all went to see Merrill. He was very good today. We went to Pharmhouse for pills. Judy the barber was here when we got home. She and Bella, dog. Jolie cooked supper. Chicken. We got pictures and letter from Robin and Dan. Jim brought Shawn Michael out to spend the night. Darcie and Brent was over. Brought me wild flowers.

Hard rain and thunder in morning. I washed white clothes. Jolie, Shawn Michael, Juanita and I went to city. Vern, June, Jim and I went to meeting for Merrill at Genesis. Very enlightening. Five head people present. Jolie, Juanita and Shawn Michael spent time with Merrill. Terry Hughes and Judy Morrow here. Judy helped me bathe and she also cleaned floor. Sue B here while we were gone. Also Judy L. Patty called from Clayton. Jolie took Shawn Michael back to city to meet Nanna from work.

Cooler but nice. Monica-therapist here at 8:30 AM. Elmer, Charlotte, daughter Shalinda 9, Lynette got here about 10:30 AM. Elmer not too bad but he has failed. We ate lunch at Philadelphia Restaurant. Then we all went to Merrill’s day care to see him. Jim came after work and we called Juanita Cobb and she came after work. So great to be together. Jeanette felt so bad about seeing Elmer again. They brought bulldozer across the road to clean fire mess. Rebekah’s lodge left bouquet of 3 yellow roses. So pretty.

A nice day. Cloudy in late PM. Dr. LaPoint 9:15. Jolie, Juanita, and I went to city. Saw doctor and had blood test. Stopped at Walmart and got Jim’s care washed. Therapist Monica here after lunch. Jolie went to Darcie’s. They were going to Syracuse Symphony at Park in evening. I talked with Lyla. Doreen called Jolie. Dr. LaPoint called and said my blood count is low. I’m to take 2 iron pills a day. Jolie and Darcia went to concert in the park.

Very windy but nice day. Jolie went to meet Patty. Patty is getting her 2 new maternity outfits. Jim called. He saw Merrill. Took him to day care. He got him a fan for his room. Merrill didn’t get undressed again last night. Aid Judy Morrow here in PM. Gave me pedicure. My first. Lyla was over tonight. She asked us to Kathy’s picnic. We washed clothes. Jim and Nancy left on bike to Maine.

Partly cloudy. They knocked down burned house across the road. Lots of folks around there. Jolie, Juanita and I went over to Kathy’s in PM. They were having get together for Ray. Ray graduated from high school. Most of Lyla’s family there. We drove over at Art and Doris’s but they weren’t home We rode in Jim’s new black GMC truck. Jolie has it. Jolie went and picked Shawn Michael up and brought him out here.

Very hot. 98° We went to early church. Communion and baptisms. Good sermon. Lyla, Juanita, Shawn Michael and I and Jolie. We went out to see Merrill in PM. He just woke up but ate a big dinner. Linda mowed our lawn while we were gone. Cha and Chumsun here today. Good to see them. They brought us bakery stuff. He brought us their bird bath for our back yard. Vern called in evening. They are coming Wednesday. Bret was over and played with Shawn. Also new neighbor, Andrew Monroe 8. Zack called in evening. Beliles had a lot of fireworks. They set them off on our side yard. Very pretty. Shawn and Bret had fun with light sticks and sparklers. Also Juanita and Darcy.

Another hot, humid, sunny day 86°. Jim called from Augusta, Maine. Will be home tomorrow. I washed white clothes. Nancy and Shawn came after Shawn Michael in morning. We washed clothes. Jolie, Juanita, Lyla and I went over to Doris H in PM. Also stopped for groceries. Brenda and Roberta are coming Wednesday for Juanita. Vern and June are coming also. Juanita scrubbed smoke off birdbath Cha gave us. We had thunder and lightning and very strong wind about 10 PM. Didn’t last long.

Still very humid. Strong wind and some sun. Therapist Jane here. Juanita met Mark Landas and baby Cheyanne while at the mailbox. Marquella and babies leaving today to join her husband. She took Money over to Darcy for lawn mowing. Joe, Darcie and Brent going camping. Jolie went to city. Went to day care but Merrill was busy. Jane the therapist and Terri the nurse, and Judy the aid all here today. Judy washed my hair and helped me shower. Jim, Nancy, and Fred and Marlene Norfolk returned from 1106 miles to east coast. Bike trip. Lyla called in evening. Much cooler in evening. Great.

Beautiful day. No humidity. Refreshing in 70’s. Sheri Parker fro office of the aging here to update records. Vern and June, Brenda and Roberta, Jim and Nancy here. Girls brought food for lunch. Delicious. Had a great day together. Missed Merrill. Vern and June saw him on way here. Jim took him fan for his room Jolie went to city. Had lunch with Jill. Sandy Hagan called. We had nice visit. Lyla was over in evening. Rain and thunder storm in evening. Juanita went home with Roberta and Brenda. I’ll sure miss her. Jolie gave me manicure in evening. First one I ever had. Vern and Jim took up bathroom rug. Juanita scrubbed tile floor. Vern and June gave us nice pictures of them.

Much cooler in morning 60°. Jolie went into city. I’m here along for first time in weeks relaxing. Patty called for Jolie. Sally Richardson, nurse here to draw blood in PM. She lives in Antwerp. Zack called. He had track of an apartment on post. 3 bedroom. Will look at it tomorrow and hopefully sign lease. Alexis here with Jolie. She is so cute. I wrote letter to Worden’s Insurance asking to cancel car insurance. They have covered us for over 50 years.

Cloudy cool some rain. Lyla took me to eye center. Pressure in both eyes 13. Very good. Saw Dr. Burke. We ate lunch at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Jolie went to Doreen’s and to see Merrill. Aid Judy Morrow here early 12:30. Helped me shower and cleaned floors. Carla McGowan called. Jolie had called her earlier but she wasn’t there. Sue called but I was busy with Judy. Said she would call back. Debbie Doss from office of the aging called. Looks like my income will be cut. I can call Mary Derosia from SSI. Zack called to say he’s already moving into his new home with borrowed truck. Jolie got me another friendship chain and emblem. I hope I don’t loose this one.

Rainy cloudy. Jolie’s 28th birthday. Jolie went to Fort Drum for groceries. I called telephone company again. A lineman came but he said it probably is in the cable. Can’t see to it before Thursday. Birthday party here for Jolie. They did the work. I only pealed potatoes and cooked eggs for potato salad. Nice time together. Jim and Nancy, Jill and Darrell, Darcia, Ed and Doreen and Alexis and Stephen, Jolie and Shawn Michael and I. Zack called. Shawn L here (Big Daddy) here also. They all went to movies at 4 PM. Then came back here for cake and ice cream. Sue called. Also Patty to wish Jolie happy birthday. Genesis called Jim this PM to come help quiet Merrill. He was moving the furniture all over. Charles was helping. Zack called again in evening.

Cool. Partly sunny. Jolie and I went to church. 55 present. Had special prayer for Bob Boschock who leaves next week for Boston for 11 months. I talked with Lyla. She was going to benefit for Liz Petrie. Jolie, Alexis and I went to city to see Merrill. He was having a very bad day. Very quiet and sleepy. He wasn’t clean or shaven as he slept in his chair. They are giving him a Seroquel pill both morning and evening. He had a shot yesterday to quiet him. He got upset today because he couldn’t come home with us. Jim and Nancy here in evening. Ha been to Binghamton for graduation party.

Great weather. Nurse Terry here to draw blood. Jolie went to Doreen’s. Jim called. He helped with Merrill and took him to day care. The nursing home gave Merrill drugs again. A shot and l Seroquel pill in morning. Jim said Merrill very quiet. Not like him. I called Vern and June. Jolie brought Shawn Michael home with her. Jim and Nancy here on Jim’s new Harley. A terrible fire over town. Our post office and 10 apartments lost. Over 60 firemen fought it. Lasted for hours. Just brick shell left. A lot of dangerous ammunition in one apartment. No injuries except from smoke inhalation. Post office is a historic building and well taken care of.

A real nice day. 78° high, 53° low. Fireman called back this morning at 5 AM as PO fire rekindled. The mail was saved and will be in fire hall across the street. This building is such a loss to Philadelphia. Tenants lost everything. Terry Hall lived in one of them I think. Jolie and Shawn Michael went to city. Planned to have dinner tonight with Shawn. Zack called. They hooked up their phone. He set up water bed. Jane Bryant, therapist here. Also Judy Morrow, aid. Gave me shampoo and cleaned floors. One more day of coumadin. Jim and Nancy and Ashley and Jolie cut their hair. Looked nice. Jim was going to try and get Merrill to go to sleep in his bed. Jim called about 10. He got his dad undressed and Ashley in his bed. Only 2nd time since he’s been there.

Another great day. Sunny and fresh. Barb Tift called. Will be here tomorrow. Jolie and Shawn Michael went to Doreen’s and city. She took my stuff to Salvation Army so good to get rid of it. Jim came out and mowed lawns. He does such a nice job. They look great. I called Genesis this AM at 10:30. Merrill wouldn’t get up this morning. I took my final Coumadin pill. Zack called in evening. They yelled at each other for 1 ½ hours. Jolie took Alexis home. She is such a spiritual little girl. It’s beautiful to watch. Her parents are doing such a great job with their kids. So much love for each other. I talked with Jim in evening. He didn’t go to Genesis in evening.

Great weather. Jim called in morning. Jane Bryant, therapist here. Discharged me. Said I was doing great. Barb Tift here to talk to me about Merrill and my plans for the future. If Merrill goes to a nursing home full time I will receive his Social Security plus mine but $367 SSI instead of 79.50 now. No Medicaid. Merrill loses his SSI but not his Medicaid. Jolie called from Doreen’s. Will be home later. I called Vern and June. They are coming tomorrow. Will bring rolls, baked beans.

A very hot, humid day. 95°. Alexis turns 4 years old today. 9696B Fitzsimons Fort Drum NY 13603 (an entry that Jolie put in diary) Nineteen folks here in evening for a cookout and birthday party for Alexis’4th birthday. Everyone helps and we all had a great time together. The kids are so sweet. Judy here. She helped me bathe and she cleaned the floor. It was a farewell party for Jolie and Shawn Michael. Lots to eat.

Not so humid today. Nice breeze. Jolie went into city and said good bye to friends. Jim and Nancy here for lunch. Jolie got back late. Alexis and Doreen came with her. They didn’t get started for the airport until 10minutes t three. Her plane leaves at 4:50 PM. Hope they make it. John Kennedy’s wife, Carolyn, and her sister missing in plane trip. Luggage found in water at Martha’s Vineyard. Jim called from airport. Jolie’s plane delayed in Chicago until 6 PM. Jim called about 9. Jolie and Shawn Michael just got on a plane. They switched to another airline. Will get back about same time.

Very humid and hot 83° Seems hotter. I went to church. Wayne came after me. I came home with Margaret. Jolie called. They had been home about an hour. She showed and was in her own bed. She kept saying how great it felt. Shawn Michael was in his bed asleep. She loves her new apartment. Better than she expected. Nancy, Jim and Walt here. Jim and Walt trimmed tree and bushes, burned papers and took garbage. I washed white clothes that I need. Also mopped sticky floor in laundry room. Also bathroom. I miss Merrill so much. I hope he didn’t look for me today. I was to see him the past 2 Sundays. They haven’t found the Kennedy’s. Just debris. Nancy Lawler called for new of Jolie and Shawn Michael. I called Bev Sampson. Vern and June called in morning.

Rain off and on. Still warm and humid by spells. Sunny in evening. Jim called. I called him. Bev Sampson took me out to see Merrill. He had been in bed since 8 AM. Awake all night. He was quite normal but couldn’t get woke up. He was drugged. Jim stopped in this morning but he was asleep then. Beverly drove on all the back roads. Got to see a lot of the country I haven’t seen in ages. Merrill was so glad to see me. The post office opens in the mall on the corner tomorrow. It is leased for 6 months. I had call from Family TV for good movies and TV. I gave them June’s, Bev’s and Vi’s name to call. Lyla called in evening. Her car giving her trouble. Started. I got dining room back as it was. Folded up day bed.
