Jim’s 39th birthday. He is at Portaferry Scout Camp with the Explorers. We went to city for church stuff at Whites, and eye drops. Got 50# potatoes. Wrote Steve. Sent Jim card and $5.00 check.

Got foam picnic basket, 89 cents. Wrote Ken’s. Went for groceries. Windy, rainy and sunny by spells. Merrill cut wood. Airbrake laying off and cutting down to three day week because business is so bad.

Rev. Salisbury’s first wedding today. Wendy Bowers and John Bartholomew. Patty called. Kenny and Brenda Rudes have separated. Wrote Vern’s. Washed clothes. Merrill cut wood. He ran cleaner. Jim and boys break camp today.

Rev. Salisbury’s first baptism at Evans Mills. We went to church, 50 out. Jim, Pat and kids here for 3 PM dinner. They left early. Jim may work on telethon. Bob Puffer has learned he is adopted. Calvin and Dolly Congdon and granddaughter Holly here.

Schools open. Edith Seeley’s 96th birthday. Merrill worked at parsonage. I called Peggy Sepko. Carl much better. Rebekah’s first fall meeting, 7 there. We draped (?) charter for Lois Lowry.

UMW at parsonage. Very nice meeting, 19 there. Merrill helped at Horton’s all day driving tractor at Carl’s mother’s. I went for groceries. Lazy day. My arthritis hurts.

I called Steve at Potsdam. He likes it great. Sounded great. Bus fare to Philadelphia is $4.25. I called bus depot. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. Manure spreader broke again. David Congdon stopped in awhile. Great day. Real warm.

Church at 11:15 again, 65 out. No company today. Hot, 90°. Had a pork roast for supper. Tommy Kavanaugh died in Syracuse of bee sting. He was 47, has 2 boys and 2 girls.

Gloria here collecting for Kavanaugh Mass Cards. Bill and Merrill worked at parsonage. Rained hard in evening. There was a write up in the Times about Jim and program at Boy Scout Camp. Assembly President visit at Antwerp. Howard called. Art H. and Ivan H. both in hospital.

Sunday School paper drive. Merrill helped in AM. Merrill went to dump twice. Took a load from parsonage in PM. He stopped at Evelyn’s. Ivan is coming home today. Paro and Annie Keichle’s 65th anniversary. Raining on and off all day.

Open House and celebration at church and parsonage. Rev. Owen at church for Celebration of Beginnings ceremony. About 100 at open house. All very nice. Jim’s here for supper. Kenny and Jeff Rudes here in PM.

Church Evangelical meeting at Pulaski, 7:30. Catherine, Alice, Jane, Bea and 5 from Mill went. 150 present. Vern and June there, also Larry Corey. Merrill helped build fence at Carl’s. Merrill finished mowing lawn.

Vern’s 46th birthday. Washed. Nice day. Warm. I’m tired today. Catherine asked me to go to cluster meeting but I decided not to go. Vera R. went.

Agway stuff arrived, $30.84 (peas, peaches, cherries) Rebekah election, 10 at lodge. Same officers elected. Merrill took car to Joe’s for wheel bearing, $64.60. Mary called. Lorraine has been critical but is improving. she is out of ICU.

We voted in primaries. We went for groceries. Merrill finished insulating back room. I canned tomatoes. Carl Horton here. Lew Leberman and Mario Cuomo won nomination for Governor.

UMW District Meeting at Pulaski. None from Philadelphia went to it. Lorraine Pickert called from hospital. She is feeling much better. Steve is at Star Lake for a weekend with Focus program. Merrill washed and put on storm windows. Beautiful day in the 70’s

We went to church, 56 out. A beautiful day in 70’s. Carol and Roy Matteson have baby girl, Naomi Joy, 8 pounds, 13 ounces, born at 11 PM.
